ICT HITS THE FOUNDATION CLASS!

A massive shout out to Rosetta our ICT guru and Davide for his strength and kindness for allowing the Foundation and Year 1 students to have their own IT station upstairs in their learning space. I know Tina, our magnificent LSO, appreciates it too! Our students have 1:1 access to iPads where a world of learning takes place. This week the Foundation students learnt some of the basics with the technology; how to operate the iPad and how to take care of it, before having a look at a couple of educational sites. From their smiles to their full on engagement, I can see we are going to have a term full of fun and deep learning!

Finally, a big thankyou to all the parents who came to discuss their wonderful children's progress last Wednesday at our Parent Teacher conversations. Both Maddy and I were overwhelmed with the level of trust handed over to us by all parents in Foundation ~ we understand and appreciate the giant responsibility we have but also the privilege bestowed on us in teaching your children. We see your child's time at Sacred Heart as a joint relationship where your child is at the centre of all we do. Many thanks!!

Year 1

Hey everyone,

We had another wonderful week in Year 1! It has been so lovely to see the children interacting with one another during Discovery, playing kindly, taking turns, and sharing, as you'll see in the photos attached.

It was also a pleasure chatting with you all at our Parent-Teacher Meetings this week and celebrating your child's achievements and growth.

Year 2

Hello Families, 

We enjoyed a lovely fun filled week with our teaching-learning activities. Thank You families for coming in for the Parent-Teaching meetings, it was lovely to be able to keep you all informed about our teaching-learning. We are learning that we are all made in the Image of God, and sharing ways that we can be respectful. For our stories, we are inferring what we would say if we were kings/queens of the school, even suggesting school on a Saturday! In the coming weeks, we ask if you could start saving all empty waterbottles, any shape and or size,  for an upcoming project! Enjoy your weekend, keep warm ! As always, Thank You families, you are wonderful. 

Year 3/4 T and 3/4 AL

Thank you to the wonderful 3/4 families that were able to attend the Parent Teacher meetings, it was wonderful to connect and talk about the great learning that is taking place.

Literacy - Wongutha Tales

In term 3 we have been reading a book called Wongutha Tales which is all about Aboriginal stories. The previous tale we have been reading is about how crows became black. The next tale was about why emus can't fly. Now we are reading about kangaroos wanting to be human. By Jaz

Fun, Fluency Friday 

Every Friday, the 3/4’s have Maths with the magnificent Marty. He is helping us practise our times tables to make sure we are fluent. During our lesson with Marty, we also answer multiplication, division, addition and subtraction questions to test our knowledge. To make us fluent Marty says an equation and then he makes us answer. Our game for maths is SPLAT! In SPLAT we have to guess how many dots there are on the screen and how there are underneath the SPLAT! This game helps us know the relationship between numbers. For example: there are 5 dots, 2 are left, how many dots are under the SPLAT? By Taz

Year 3/4 AL

Dear families,

We wish to inform you that the 3/4 AL classroom has been relocated downstairs. 

We have moved into what was the Italian room and will be here for the remainder of the year.  We are really looking forward to getting settled and working in our new space.

Year 5/6J

Hi families,

It has been a sensational start to term 3, with lots of new learning happening across the last two weeks.

In our new Inquiry focus, we have begun to look at our environment, and the animals and habitats that exist with them, both locally and worldwide. Students had the chance to select an animal they were interested in, and do some research based on where that animal is located, and additional interesting information about it.  It was fabulous to see such engagement and curiosity shown by 5/6J!

Year 5/6M

 Arvin: On Monday, a new friend came to our class! Tim Tam! Tim Tam is a weighted sloth plushie! He goes everywhere with us! We had a vote to pick a name for him! The suggestions were: The Flash, (because he’s a sloth so that means he’s SUPER fast), Cadmus, Biscuit, Sid, Tim Tam, and Luigi. And Tim Tam got the most votes!  

Kaone: Tim Tam is our class’s support friend. If you feel anxious, scared or feel sick, he always has a smile on his face to cheer you up no matter what! And his name kind of fits him because his brown fluffy fur color matches his name. Our class absolutely ADORES this fluffy brown Tim Tam! We are thankful for him being in our class. 

Suzie: Tim Tam the sloth came with us to STEAM, Italian and Music on Wednesday. And then he came to the Library on Thursday. Tim Tam is a weighted plushie for us to hold when we feel discomfort. We named him Tim Tam because we all like the Australian biscuit brand, Tim Tam. We all had our own suggestions of names, like Flash and Biscuit. We all love Tim Tam in grade 5/6M and we hope Tim Tam will help us with our emotions. And he is really fluffy.   

Aisha: Today I'm talking about Tim Tam. He is a sloth and he is so cute and furry. Just a funny fact, he always looks up and he never looks down. That's a bit funny but anyway he is always there for us if we need him. He is very soft and he goes wherever our class goes and I'm so happy to have him in my class.

Chloe: You know how people have support animals? Well, Sacred Heart and 5/6M has one. He is not real, but he helps us. The name we chose is Tim Tam. Tim Tam's cuddly and furry. 

Victoria: I think Tim Tam is a very curious sloth. He has already visited the Italian classroom, the office and the music room. He is the class mascot. We imagine he is our friend and that he keeps us company.
