Dear Sacred Heart Community,

SMOKING CEREMONY this Thursday, 30th July @ 11am.  Remember this was organised for the first week back at school but was postponed due to illness from Uncle Colin Hunter. We would love to see as many people come and be part of this special ceremony. 

Student Leadership

An interesting cultural protocol in some parts of African is that, when a member of the group has transgressed, instead of being punished and outcast from the community, they are placed in the centre of the group, where members of that group say all the things about that person that makes them an invaluable part of the community. 

I adopted this practice when dealing with our leaders this week. Each student stood in the middle of the group and were told, by their peers, what makes them an integral part of the group. It was a truly memorable experience for all who were there.

Sacred Heart's Garden Club

So great for students to see sustainable gardening in action last week. This week we cleared two of the planter boxes in preparation for our Term 3 unit of Inquiry on Biological Science. The Year 1 and Year 2 class are planning a range of experiences around planting, growing and eating produce grown at school. Sounds fantastic!
