Dear Parents,

Tomorrow night we head to George Jenkins theatre Frankston for our 2023 school production. I look forward to a wonderful night where we will see all of our students shining and flourishing on the stage. Students need to be at the theatre by 5.30pm.

The performing arts encourages children to explore their emotions, expand their imagination and helps them develop their own, unique voice. The opportunity to perform is so important for every child building dispositions such as confidence, resilience, creativity and building important collaborative team building skills.

Thanks to our Defence Force Mentor Kerry Coliver for leading our beautiful Remembrance day service last Friday. This is extremely important in our school with many defence force families serving our country being of service to others and experiencing very challenging and difficult situations to keep us all safe in our wonderful country. Thank you to Kerry, Ben, Hamish and Alexa for attending the service on Saturday at Crib Point.

The Defence force students have been working collaboratively with students from Crib Point Primary and St Mary’s on a poppy project. She- ron a former grandma of our school made three wreaths with the students from the schools which were presented to the schools last Wednesday. It was such a special occasion and I thank Kerry, She-ron, Matt along with Lucette and Carolyn the Defence Force Mentors from the other schools for their great work.

Thanks to Jarna Browne, Amanda Lucy and Amy Burgess for leading the Bunnings sausage sizzle particularly Jarna for her work on the day. Thanks also to the following parents, Anne Winning, Cameron Griffiths, Dave Lyngcoln, Di Hook, Hayley Kraulis, Jareth Dixon, Jess Mallows, Nikki Hill, Sean Banfield and Tim Womersley for helping on the day.

A huge Congratulations to Ava and Louis on their outstanding achievement in the National STEM awards. Ava received the best science in context award and Louis was a finalist in the best display of Catholic ethos.

Weeks like last week really give us the opportunity to stand proud and strong as a wonderful St Joseph's community. This is lived out in the way we join together to encourage our students to be respectful, encouraging and inspiring human beings.

Just a reminder students must wear full uniform every day- black leather shoes must be worn on Monday, Tuesday and Friday and sports runners on Wednesday and Thursday. All uniform must be official uniform purchased from Beleeza. If you are suffering financial hardship please email principal@sjcribpoint.catholic.edu.au as I have some funds from a donation for school uniforms. Below is an update on new items.

Old Navy sports polo – these have discounted these by 50% off, to sell out old stock. The newer sports polos will be available in store in January but students can continue to wear the blue sports tops as well.

Our official transition session for 2024 will be held on Tuesday 12th December from 11.30- 1pm.

On this day all students in the school will attend a session with their new teacher for 2024. This provides an opportunity for students to be prepared for the following school year.

During this session your child will spend time with their 2024 teacher and class members. On this day you will be given an envelope with all of the necessary information pertaining to the 2024 school year but I will also send home initial starting dates, pupil free days etc for 2024 this week for your information.

You will also be invited to book in for an individual session with your child’s teacher at the commencement of the 2024 school year. This information will be provided in the information pack. This is a wonderful opportunity for your child to know their home room teacher and to begin to build a strong, positive relationship for the new school year.

Please promote our wonderful school to all in our community. We are still taking enrolments for 2024. Word of mouth is the most effective marketing tool and so please invite any of your friends, family and community to come along for a tour of our school.

We look forward to seeing all of our community at the Christmas Carols and market night on Friday 8th December. It is set to be a wonderful night and is a significant event on our school calendar. Santa will be coming on the fire truck, community groups will be present and our Preps will present the Nativity. Invite all of the community to come along and make it a special gathering for all.
