Level 4

Level 4

Regional Hooptime

Congratulations to the nine students from level 3 and 4 who represented our school last week at the State Basketball centre. A big thankyou to Greg for coaching our students on the day and to the group of parents who supported our students. Resilience was evident on the day as we were matched against other schools in our region.

Swimming

There is always a mix of excitement, anxiety and high energy during swimming week. Our students benefit from the daily sessions as they are encouraged to further develop their skills at their own pace. The highlight for most students was the water safety day on Friday. It equips students with the important knowledge and skills to stay safe in and around water in everyday situations.

As usual your child/ren represented our school community respectfully while being transported to and from Aquanation. It was lovely to hear this from the bus drivers throughout the week.

Writing

As a part of our writing unit of work, students continued to plan and publish their persuasive writing pieces. They were given the opportunity to choose topics they are passionate about, in order to express their opinions and persuade others. While this has been a fun and engaging activity for our young writers, we wanted to give you the heads up that some students may try to persuade you into supporting or providing them with certain things. We are most interested in the family whose child would like a goat. Her arguments are convincing.

Reading

During reading sessions students have been distinguishing between facts and opinions using different images and texts. This critical thinking skill has complimented our writing unit and strengthens their ability to make informed decisions based on reliable information.

Maths

During maths we have continued working on the connection between multiplication and division, giving the students many opportunities to reinforce their learning. There have been many opportunities to further develop their ability to recall multiplication facts automatically or using other strategies. This term's homework grid has many games that can be played to consolidate their times tables, factors and multiples.

An imaginative ‘quick write’ piece of writing from Elsa in 4LS

As the curtains closed, I felt a calm shriek of excitement bubble inside me. Production was over, and it went flawlessly. White-faced with relief, I bobbed back into my line. As I calmly walked back into the rehearsal room, I heard a scream and squealing right after. Of course, some kids just couldn’t keep their energy inside them.

BAM! A bag of cheetos exploded, causing everyone to break free of the rope. Calm turned into chaos! Kids were screaming backstage, with teachers trying to settle them down. Lollies flew everywhere, cards in the air, and suddenly the door swung open and the principal barged in.

“SILENCE!”

Everyone froze.
