Level 2

Level 2

Can you believe that we are almost halfway through Term 4? What an amazing couple of weeks we have had in Level 2. This past week we have enjoyed swimming at Aquanation, we have finished off our informative reading and writing units, and have learnt about 2D and 3D shapes as well as symmetry.

Literacy

The Level 2’s have been enjoying searching for useful information about famous Australians. Once they found the information, they then used their own words to describe who their famous person is, what they are famous for, what achievements have they made and interesting facts about their famous Australian.

Numeracy

In Numeracy we have been looking at 2D and 3D shapes and symmetry. The students had fun making shapes out of match sticks and modelling clay - focussing on forming edges and vertices. We also looked at how objects have symmetry. For this activity the students had half a photo of themselves and all the students did a fantastic job of drawing the other half of their faces on A4 paper.

Inquiry -  Colonisation

During Inquiry we have been looking at the colonisation of Australia. We tracked Captain Cooks voyage from England on the HMB Endeavour. The students saw how Captain Cook mapped Australia, heard stories from his journal and about his first encounters with Aboriginal people. We then used the book ‘The Rabbits’ by John Marsdan to explore colonisation through an Indigenous point of view.
