We have had a wonderful 2 weeks of events and learning. We had swimming lessons last week and that was filled with lots of fun. We have loved learning about facts and opinions that have helped us to write our own information reports.

Literacy

During our reading lessons, we have been learning about the difference between facts and opinions. They can identify different features of animals, their habitats, diet and interesting facts. The students are able to create their own opinion on the fact they have learnt about.

In Writing, we have been following on with Information reports. They have been able to use a program called Kiddle which allowed them to research and learn new information. They learnt about Ladybugs and were able to section their information into categories before it was displayed in the classroom. The students were super proud of their work which is now hanging up in the classroom. Come into see their wonderful Ladybug report.

Maths

Students have enjoyed revisiting Time. They were able to draw their own clock outside with chalk and create their own time for a partner to say. Student’s have been able to learn about the importance of a calendar and how they can insert events both past, present and future. To continue on with this activity, you can create your own calendar with your child and insert special events they know, schedule what you do everyday and events they are occurring in the future.

Inquiry

We have continued exploring and learning our new Inquiry Unit ‘Through generations’. Students have enjoyed learning about the past, present and future by brainstorming events they know and remember. Students had fun bringing in their families special items from the past and created a museum that showcased these items.

Extra activities

In 1RK we have enjoyed being creative and enjoying some of the festivities that have been occurring. We made our own Halloween monsters and we were lucky enough for Miss Kelly to decorate our classroom with Halloween decorations.
