Literacy

In Foundation KB we are continuing to grow in reading and writing. In reading we have been learning to make predictions and make inferences when we are reading. Please ask us predicting questions while we are reading such as;

• What do you think this story will be about?
• Who do you think the main characters will be? 
• Do you think the main character will achieve their goal? 
• What do you think will happen next?
• What will they learn during the story? 
• Were you right about the predictions you made? 

We are even really good at justifying our predictions!

Have a look at our amazing writing about production. FKB were brave and had a great time performing on stage singing ‘Believe in you Dream’. Our writing has really improved, and we are so proud of all our growth.

Maths

In Maths we have been learning about positional language and addition. We have a clever group of mathematical thinkers in FKB. 

If you want to play an addition game with us at home, try this one.

Try for a Total of 10

Play this math card game alone or as a team. Lay out 20 cards on the table (leave out face cards or change them to equal 0, while aces equal 1). Kids remove sets of cards that add up to 10, ultimately trying to remove all the cards from the table. It’s harder than you think!

Our First Week of Swimming

How fun is learning to swim! We had an amazing time swimming at Aquanation. FKB demonstrated resilience in the pool. We were able to learn new swimming skills as well as how to organise all our swimming clothes. What a bunch of legends!

When the Fire Brigade Came to HEPS!

Can you believe that we were able to have a go at using the water hose on the Fire truck? We had a great time learning about the importance of fire safety and how to call for help if we need it. A big thank you to the Ringwood Fire Brigade for visiting HEPS!
