Scrapbooks

In year 6, we have been writing our scrapbook pieces so we can go back and look at all of the good memories of primary school. We will write 7 pieces from prep to year 6, which include Recount, Narrative, Procedure, Expository, Letter, Persuasive and Poetry. In the end, we will have a folder/book full of writing, decorations and photos.

5 / 6 sport

In year 6 we have been doing 5/6 sport. Everyone has been learning how to play sports like Lacrosse, Kickball, Volleyball and Basketball among different grades. We also sometimes play “Capture the Flag,” which us grade 6’s find really fun!

Rats, Bats and Diseases!

Some grade 6’s were chosen to participate in a WebEx to learn about bats, rats and diseases. They learnt about diseases and how animals can get them too. They also learnt about how bats and rats contribute to these diseases. After the WebEx, we seemed to ask the most questions. Some of them were: How are diseases discovered? How did Covid start? Can animals get Covid? 

Inquiry

In Inquiry, we have been learning about starting a business and the key components of a successful company. While doing that, we are trying to create something worth selling and that people would buy. We don’t have to actually make it, but we have to draw a diagram. We can either make a product or service. We also need to think about the area (art, fashion, technology), competitors, ideas and resources. We have also learnt about human, natural and capital resources and could tell the difference between them all.

Maths

In Maths we are learning BIDMAS.

We are learning how to solve equations like 5 x (29-5) ÷ 4 = 30   

Students were also put a table in their Maths book to identify what order they go in and what might be their symbol.
