Level 5

Level 5

Swimming

Level 5 excelled with their swimming and water safety skills last week at Aquanation. They practised their swimming strokes and performed a survival sequence wearing clothes. It was a fantastic week seeing all the students improve their swimming skills.

Foundation Friends

Level 5 enjoyed hands on activities with our Foundation friends. They wrote a story book together and played some games. We look forward to seeing them again later this week!

Writing

This is our last week on persuasive writing with a focus on the bond between the author and the reader or listener. Students have been learning to reinforce and emphasise the author’s viewpoint and appeal to the emotions of the reader or listener.

Reading

In Reading, Level 5 have been encouraged to be ‘active’ readers and deeply engage in the reading process. In order to achieve this, they have been revising and consolidating their reading strategies of summarising, predicting, visualising, questioning and monitoring.

Maths

We have been learning about the term probability in chance and converting it into fractions, decimals and percentages. Students have used spinners, cards and discussed real-life probability. They have completed assessments to gauge and monitor their growth.

Inquiry

Students have applied their knowledge of money and financial budgets to real-life business plans. They have explored competitors and used this research to develop a business plan for a product they intend to advertise and market in Week 10.
