This week's SUPERSTAR writer is Lincoln from 1/2MB. Lincoln has made some amazing progress with his writing. He has worked hard to improve his handwriting and he has used paragraphs and a variety of punctuation including commas, exclamations marks and talking marks in his writing. Lincoln has also been re-reading his work and using a green pen for editing. Congratulations Lincoln! We are so proud of the progress you are making!
Here are some of our students enjoying Origami Club and Ship Club which is held during Friendship Club on Monday's at Snack Time in the Library, supervised by Ms Antonella. It is so great to see our students intitiating ideas for these clubs as well as taking responsibility for promoting them and encouraging other children who have similar interests to participate. This is true 'student voice' at Trinity!
On Wednesday this week, we once again welcomed our new Preps for 2024 and their families for their second transition session at Trinity. While the students engaged in fun and learning with their teachers and new friends, the parents, extended family members and carers joined us for an Information Session. We look forward to seeing our 2024 Preps again next Wednesday morning.
Last week our Leadership Team participated in the 'School Wide Improvement Forum' for School Leaders across the Southern Region. It was wonderful to listen to leaders from the Melbourne Arch Diocese of Catholic Schools (MACS) - Dr Ed Simons, Dr Mary Oski, Shauna Maree Sykes and Deb Egan speak about the MACS 2023 Vision and 'flourishing learners' initiatives. As a leadership team we had the opportunity to reflect back on our goals and targets from 2023 and we began to plan our Annual Action Plan for 2024.
Over the next few weeks the teachers will be working with the children as they begin to complete some assessments for the end of year school reports. It is a busy time in the classrooms as teachers are trying to get through explicitly teaching the remainder of the Victorian Curriculum before assessments begin. Your child might come home talking about having completed a Reading Assessment, Essential Assesment or PAT Testing for Lietracy or Numeracy, the SA Spelling Test or completing end of year writing pieces. Whilst these tests give us a good indication of student learning over the semester this should not be a stressful time for any child. If you have any questions about any of the end of year assessments please see your child's class teacher or feel free to come and chat with me.
This is one of our Year 3 students who absolutely loves reading! So much so, that he walks into school each morning with his head in a book! And with a smile on his face! Keep up your love for reading James!
Last week our Prep students enjoyed a fun afternoon learning some new circus skills and tricks, and they also enjoyed their pizza as part of their Outdoor Education program.
This week our Year 5 and 6 students (and some of our teachers) participated in a Bike Ride from our school to Hawthorn Velodrome. The students have been learning how to ride with Ms McLeary as part of their weekly Bike Ed program during their PE lesson. All of the riding skills they have learnt as well as learning about Riding Safely on bike paths and the road were put into action as they partcipated in the bike ride on Wednesday.
If you have any questions or concerns about your child's learning, please do not hesitate to make contact with your child's teacher. You are also welcome to come and see me about any aspect of learning at Trinity.
