Senior All Star Boys Divsion Finals Day

On Monday the Senior All Star boys Hooptime team competed at the second stage of competition after progressing through from the intial stage.

The boys absolutley exemplified the values of St Cecilia's in the fair, humble and determined way in which they worked together as a term throughout the day. The boys competed against a number of very talented (and tall) teams from the region with very close games throughout the competition. They managed to narrowly qualify for the finals on percentage in what was a very tight pool.

They then went from strength to strength, winning their semi final and unlitmately the grand final to progress to the State Finals on December 5th. We are very proud of the boys achievement and even more proud of the wonderful way in which they competed.

Thank you to the parents who were able to make arrangements to transport and support the team members.

A very special thank you to Teresa Galgani for her continued tireless work behind the scenes in organising and preparing our hooptime program.

Metropolitan Regional Athletics - Congratulations Jake!

Jake once again represented the school last week at the Regional Athletics Championships.

Remarkably Jake again managed to win both his 800m and 1500m races to progress to the state championships which will take place on November 1st. A truly repic performance Jake, we wish you the best of luck at the next stage.

District Swimming Training

We are excited to announce a special opportunity for our strong young swimmers at St. Cecilia's Primary School. As we prepare for the District team selection in February 2024, we are offering pre-training sessions to help our aspiring swimmers refine their skills and improve their endurance.

Swimming Training Sessions Details:

Dates:  Mondays:

  • 13 November 2023
  • 20 November 2023
  • 27 November 2023
  • 4 December 2023

Time:  7:00 AM - 8:00 AM

Location: Ashburton Pool and Recreation Center (outdoor pool, 25m)

Please note that these sessions are specifically designed for students who will be enrolled at St. Cecilia's Primary School in the 2024 academic year and who will be turning 9 during the 2024 calendar year. The sessions will focus on stroke development, technique, and endurance in all four swimming strokes.

While we will provide coaching during these sessions, it is essential that parents arrange transportation to and from the venue and provide breakfast for their child. Additionally, parents should designate a responsible adult to supervise their child during the training sessions. This can be either themselves or another trusted parent.

It is our expectation that students who attend these training sessions are already confident swimmers, capable of swimming 50 metres. These sessions are not intended as learn-to-swim lessons but rather as opportunities to enhance existing skills.

Cost and Payment:

The cost for all four training sessions will be $25 per child, equivalent to $6.25 per week (the same as general child entry). Please submit this fee in advance to Mrs. Aldcroft in a named envelope.

Minimum Participation Requirement:

To ensure the successful implementation of this program, we require a minimum of 12 students per lane to commit to these training sessions.

This information has been sent out on the school app with a form to complete for those who would like to participate.

Warm regards,

Katherine Aldcroft
