Walk for Epilepsy

A massive thanks to everyone who helped my Walk for Epilepsy 2023 team to raise a whopping $3,183 for Epilepsy WA, making us the number one fundraising team in WA this year. We even made it into the Top 20 fundraising teams in Australia -  go team!

With our humble contribution, that tops out the total raised in this year's Walk for Epilepsy at $495,412 and 73,570km walked - that's the equivalent of walking from one side of Australia to the other 18 times!

For those of us doing the walk for Epilepsy WA, we can be proud to have sent $29,860 their way, which will support the crucial services they provide to the 1 in 25 West Australians living with epilepsy.

Thank you again. Your donations and support make me proud to be a part of this community.

Wills forum

On October 20 I was joined by 80 Darling Range residents at the Byford & Districts Country Club for my Wills Forum, covering Wills, Enduring Power of Attorney and Enduring Power of Guardianship and clearing up the complexity around life's big decisions.

Expert speaker Hon. Matthew Swinbourn MLC gave a step-by-step presentation explaining the essentials, and after morning tea he was joined by Eureka Lawyers Legal Practice Director Alex Illich for a Q&A session with the audience.

There were plenty of questions and it's clear from the numbers (around 50 per cent of West Australian's have no legal will in place at the time of passing) that this is a challenging issue, so it was encouraging to hear the experts provide clear answers and some relief for those attending.

My thanks to the speakers, the Byford and Districts Country Club and, most of all, the residents who came along. I hope these topics are now a little less daunting, and a little easier to manage.

Armadale Highland Gathering and Perth Kilt Run

The City of Armadale looked like a scene out of Braveheart (minus the Scottish weather) on Sunday, October 8, with over 500 runners kitted out in kilts storming the finish line of the Perth Kilt Run.

I was on photo duties, which is, of course, the only reason I didn't enter the race (cough cough) but the organisers and volunteers know how to put on a show, and the atmosphere there, created by the highland dancers, medieval fair, pipe bands and performances on the main stage (the Jarrah Celts were a personal favourite) made for a braw day out!
