A Message from

Hannah & Keir

We would like to acknowledge and honour the Wurundjeri Woi-Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation as the traditional custodians of the land on which our school stands. We pay our respects to all First Nations elders, past present, and emerging.

Step Up Day One

Tomorrow is the first of four whole school ‘Step Up’ sessions.  Our focus will be ‘Hello New Spaces!’ During this session, students will spend time engaging with new spaces, new staff and a new peer group. As Deb has outlined in her previous explanations of these sessions; they are not the rooms your child will be in or the teacher they will have, or the peers they will be in a class with in 2024. Instead, these sessions are a moment to experience transition and practice resilience and change coping strategies. Because these sessions will be different from other school days, it may be good to chat at home about the upcoming differences and how your child might  self-regulate and apply their resilience skills throughout the sessions.

Foundation Transition

Wednesday 8th November is our first 2024 Foundation transition session. In this session, our wonderful group of 2024 Foundation students and their adults will be taking part in some Guided Play, a Library reading session, and will be planting a seed that they can then watch grow alongside them throughout their Foundation year. This is the first of four transition sessions where our new ‘Foundies’ will take part in some great BNWPS experiences  while their parents take part in some learning of their own with members of school leadership.

Tomorrow (Tuesday 31 October) Merri-bek council is running an online session with information for parents about transition  from Kindergarten or Childcare to school. Please see the information later in the newsletter if you are interested in attending.

5/6 Camp Jungai

We are excited to take our students on the first BNWPS camp experience for 2023 this Wednesday. A Sentral message went out to families last Friday, with all the information you might need to prepare. Please remember to be at school by 8:00 if you are bringing medication and by 8:15 am for everyone else. We want to have the roll marked and all bodies on the bus before the morning rush!

Thank you to the majority of our families who have already filled in the medical information form. For those families who have not yet completed the form, please do so ASAP. We are unable to bring any student to the camp without complete medical information.
