Principal's News

Dear Armadale Community,

Grandparents and Special Visitors morning

What a fabulous morning we had today with our Grandparents and special visitors visiting our classrooms and the enjoying a wonderful morning tea that was beautifully catered for by our Grade 1 parents. A huge thank you to all of the Grade 1 parents who baked and contributed delicious treats and special mention must go to Kate H, Lisa M, Katie F, Andrew R and Christine H for their amazing set up in the MPC.

The children were very excited to have their grandparents and special person take time out of their day to visit them at their school and participate in the special activities the teachers had designed.

Please enjoy the photos below that I was able to take during the visit this morning.

I was also delighted to receive so many compliments from the grandparents about our wonderful school and how happy the children are at school, how much they love learning here. What also stood out to me was the feedback from the grandparents and special visitors who have been educators, high school teachers and retired Principals, and on board of school councils who  took the time to approach me to also let me know how fabulous our school is. When I receive positive feedback from another educator who appreciates and understands what we do and why we do it, it always makes my heart sing!!

Thunderstorm Asthma

There is an increased risk of seasonal asthma, hay fever and epidemic thunderstorm asthma during seasons with increased grass pollen levels. In Victoria, this is typically between October and December each year.

Epidemic thunderstorm asthma events are triggered by a combination of higher grass pollen levels and a certain type of thunderstorm.

People with a history of asthma, undiagnosed asthma or hay fever are at an increased risk under these conditions. This risk is increased further for people who have poorly treated hay fever and asthma.

The best way to reduce and prevent symptoms of asthma or hay fever and reduce unnecessary absences from school is to follow an up-to-date asthma action plan or hay fever treatment plan, provided by a general practitioner (GP) or specialist.

Please ensure your children’s asthma plans are up to date and please let the school know if your child’s asthma is triggered by this certain type of thunderstorm.

World Teacher’s Day is on tomorrow!

Just a reminder that it is World Teacher’s Day tomorrow and it would be wonderful if every child could acknowledge their dedicated teachers and our staff, in a small way. Every day, our teachers make the children feel special and this is a lovely opportunity to reciprocate. Thank you.

Whole School Photo is on tomorrow at approximately 11.30 am

This will be followed by the Year 6 Graduation photo and it would be great if all children can make sure they are in attendance tomorrow.

Armadale Café Cubby House Launch is on tomorrow from 9.00am am till 9.30am

All of our Prep parents are invited to attend this special assembly which is on tomorrow morning.

Free health practice on Mondays for APS parents

Are you looking for more energy, calm and clarity to manage work, kids and life in general?

Do you feel stuffy or congested with sinusitis, allergies and fatigue?

Does snoring or heavy breathing interrupt your sleep and leave you sluggish?

Conscious deep breathing is a simple and effective tool to improve energy levels, gut health, mood, immunity and longevity - one breath at a time. Even 20 minutes a day can improve your metabolic and cardiovascular health without moving a muscle!

Dr Dhanya Nambiar is an APS parent with a background in medical research and mental health, and runs a local wellness practice specialising in gut health. Dhanya is offering free breath work sessions every Monday, 9am-9.20am, at the MPC starting from November 13th until the end of term. These guided sessions are designed to incrementally build breathing efficiency, energy levels, posture and stamina. Just drop in, and bring your breath and an open mind; no yoga mats, gym gear or experience required. Learn a simple breathing sequence to jumpstart your week! If you are interested, please let her know via email : hello@pranaayurveda.com.au.

Kiss and Go

A reminder to our families that the Kiss and Go signs outside the front of the school and the parking restrictions are there to facilitate the smooth pick up and drop off of children. Parents who ignore the signs increase traffic congestion on Densham and Northcote roads, and the risk of accidents and injury to our children. Your least issue is a parking fine, hurting another person’s child will stay with you for life. Do not take the risk.
