Silver House Newsletter

Belmont High School

Huge congratulations to Silver House on taking out the 2026 Athletics Carnival, adding to our wins in the Swimming Carnival and the Fun Run! That's three from three so far this year.

Special shout-out to our Under 20's Age Champions:

  •  Ruby Moon (School Captain)

  • Cooper Hill (House Captain)

True Silver House leadership, on and off the track!

With the carnival treble secured, all eyes are now on House Music, and we're aiming for the clean sweep in 2026! This year's theme is 2000's, and we know Silver House is going to bring it. We are looking for all students who are keen to play a part in the Silver House Band. To get involved, contact Mr Bumpstead or Charli German 11Silver (Performing Arts Captain). Singers, dancers, performers, backstage crew - everyone's welcome.

Big Science Competition

Congratulations to William Edwards, Silka Kruger & Charli Ambrus who received results of Distinction in the Big Science Competition!

Students of the Month

Congratulations to our two Middle Years Students of the Month:

  • Isabelle Parrot (Year 7)

  • Ruby Moon (Year 12)

Two outstanding role models for the rest of the House!

On the Field: Intermediate Boys vs St Aloysius

A tough, close fought match saw our Intermediate Boys go down to St Aloysius Catholic College in the final minutes. Flying the Silver flag was Rustom Surtom, putting in a strong performance for the House in the ruck. Meanwhile, Gus Opperman decided the sidelines weren't enough and took to the skies, capturing the action via drone. Whether he had permission to fly it over the game remains... unconfirmed.

'The Monty' Creative Writing Award

A big congratulations to Otis Crabtree (Year 7 Silver Form Captain) and Diana Lee (8SEALP Silver), who were both awarded 'The Monty' creative writing award.

Kokoda Track Leadership Experience

Massive congratulations to Liam Carney and Zac Boyle (both 11 Silver), who have just completed the Kokoda Track Leadership Experience. An incredible eight day trek along one of the most physically and historically significant tracks in the world.

Zac Boyle was also awarded the Metson Medal, voted on by his fellow trekkers, staff, porters and guides. The award is named after Corporal John Metson, a WWII soldier who, after being shot through both ankles on the Kokoda Track, refused to be carried so as not to burden his comrades, choosing instead to crawl for three weeks. The Metson Medal honours a trekker who shows that same spirit of resilience, selflessness and looking out for others on the trail. A truly fitting honour, Zac.
