As we near the end of Term 2, I would like to acknowledge the hard work of our staff, students, and parents in making this year productive and enjoyable. As the days grow darker and colder, I urge students to continue attending school and parents to stay in contact with staff if their child is unwell.
Term 2 can be quite challenging, as can the holidays. Please take this time to recharge and enjoy some time at home. It's important to appreciate the hard work everyone has put in. If needed, there are services in Horsham and online agencies available for support during the holidays. Please take the time to reach out to them if needed.

Term 3 begins on Monday 13 July, and we will work through the cold winter to achieve the goals set out in each student’s Individual Education Plan. We will once again hold Parent/Teacher Interviews at the start of the term to review student Education Plans and ensure we have the right supports in place. These interviews will occur on Thursday 16 July – all classes will be cancelled on this day. Online booking links will be sent to all parents this week, and reminders over the holidays.
Thank you to all the families for their support at the beginning of the year. Please reach out to staff if you have any questions or concerns.
This term we have welcomed some new faces to the group, who have been able to make positive impact on the class. We have especially appreciated the extra set of hands when it has come to our volunteer work with the Centre for Participation.
As a group, we have delivered over 90 meals to local clients who receive food orders from the ‘Meals on Wheels’ programs. We have made three visits to the Centre for Participation whereby we have been able to make a total of 300 toasted cheese sandwiches to be sent to local primary and secondary schools.
This term, we have completed a writing task that has been inspired by Peter Reynolds ‘The Dot: What Happened Next?’ writing activity. We had stories about ‘The Great Wars’, adventure tales, thrillers and some questionable driving. Below is a short poem written by Ava about a cute little Kiwi who happens to also be a Cannibal.
Kiwi Cannibalism
Running through the forest,
Through the bushes and the greens,
You'll see them gather round
To see what's beneath the seams.
They eat their own kind,
Shameless and without a care,
Tearing at the fruit—
Something others cannot bear.
The kiwis will not stop,
A bird that knows no fear,
Feasting on their brothers,
Once held so very dear.
Well done on an excellent term Blue Group students!

Students studying the VCE VM and VPC are given values awards by their teachers based on the Horsham College values of Care, Character, Commitment and Collaboration. Each term two students from each program are presented with an overall award and receive a Conways pie voucher. Students can view their awards via the SEQTA student portal. The overall winner of the senior award for term 2 is Kayleb Dawson. Well done Kayleb on your positive attitude and always being polite.

Senior 1 group have been working well towards the end of term. So far this year the students have completed 25 units of VPC . Some students have taken on small research projects to supplement their VPC Literacy and Personal development skills work.
Additionally, three students will hopefully receive mid year VPC certificates. This is a great effort and represents several years of work for most of these students, well done.
Chess has become quite popular when people are having a break from schoolwork.
We look forward to a restful term break and hope to continue the good work in term 3.
It has been another fun and exciting term out at the Creek. Thank you to students, families and staff for your contributions to our school community.
New semester
Semester 2 brings some exciting changes. Some electives have swapped days and updated timetables have been sent home with students. In PE this semester, there is a focus on outdoor education and gym fitness. Students got a great taster this week with a fishing trip. More adventures to come!
Reports
Semester reports will be released on SEQTA later this week. It has been lovely seeing students look back on their efforts and feel proud of their progress. Paper copies are available upon request if you would prefer a printed version.
New Equipment
Students have been making great use of some new outdoor equipment during break times. A particular favourite has been the new goal posts and cricket set.
Parent–teacher interviews
Parent–teacher interviews are scheduled for Thursday of Week 1 next term. We look forward to connecting with families and celebrating student growth.
