Specialist Classes

Performing Arts - Seniors
Thank you so much to our school community for coming out in large numbers to support our Grade 2’s and 3 / 4’s in their dance performances two weeks ago at assembly! It was absolutely amazing to see so many families present.
All the students did an incredible job. The vibe was fantastic and I’m so proud of each and every student who got up in front of such a large audience. It’s no easy feat performing in front of the whole school plus families! It’s been the most fun doing these dances with these three cohorts, the dance unit is always a highlight. Well done again to all the students and thank you again for supporting the Performing Arts program here at ENPS.
Grade 5 / 6
Next term will be our most exciting term in the whole year, as it’s production term! Our Wizard of Oz show is coming together wonderfully. The cast and ensembles have been working tirelessly, learning their lines, stage entrances and dance moves week in and week out. Every single grade is doing a brilliant job learning their class song and dance, they are going to absolutely own that stage. I’m so excited to see it all thread together when we return after the holidays.
Just a reminder to please check compass to consent for filming of the show, if you haven’t already!
Every student should have received a costume slip from me. If you are unaware of what outfit your child needs to have for the show, please contact me.

Auslan
This fortnight in Auslan Foundation, Level 1 and Level 2, students reviewed colours and numbers through a range of fun and engaging games. Over the holidays, children might like to teach their families some of the signs they have learned and play family Auslan games such as Auslan Colour Bingo, “I’m Looking For…” (colour), and colour-in activities where family members sign the colour to use next. Students in Levels 1 and 2 also worked in teams to play 'Kahoot!' Auslan colour quizzes, enjoying the challenge of each question and practising numbers into the thousands. We had some impressively high 'Kahoot!' scores indeed!
Jnr Auslan classes conclude for the year at the end of Term 2. It has been wonderful watching the children's personal sign banks grow and seeing their confidence and enthusiasm for communicating in Auslan increase throughout the semester. Students have embraced new signs, fingerspelling, games and conversations with great excitement, and it has been lovely to see them encouraging and supporting one another in their learning.
Thank you to all families for supporting your children’s Auslan learning. We hope everyone has a wonderful break and encourage students to keep practising their signs at home with family and friends. We look forward to continuing our Auslan journey together next year. Net Semester, I will continue to integrate Auslan into our Library and Performing Arts lessons.
Library
As Term 2 comes to a close, it has been wonderful to see students continue to develop a love of books and stories. Throughout the semester, students have enjoyed listening to a variety of texts, sharing their favourite stories and practising how to care for books and borrow responsibly. It has been lovely to see students enthusiastically exploring the library collection and building positive reading habits. Thank you to families for supporting regular borrowing and reading at home. We wish everyone a safe and relaxing holiday break and look forward to more reading adventures in Semester 2.
Performing Arts - Jnr
Foundation and Level 1 students have been focussing on dance. Students have been developing their ability to keep a steady beat, learn and practise simple dance movements, and work collaboratively to create their own moves to add to group dances. They have enjoyed expressing themselves through movement and sharing their ideas with others.
Students’ dances were recorded and they enjoyed reflecting on their performances using WWW (What Went Well) and EBI (Even Better If), helping them to recognise their achievements and identify ways to improve. It has been wonderful to see students grow in confidence and creativity as they worked together to create and perform their dances. We look forward to more exciting Performing Arts experiences in Semester 2.
Enviro Club
In July: It’s Thursday, fantastic! Refuse the plastic!
Have you heard of the Plastic Free July initiative? Communities work together to reduce the use of plastic over one month.
At ENPS, we’re starting small. Let’s make Thursdays matter, by ditching single-use plastics.
What’s in it for you?
- A cleaner playground.
- A step towards less plastic in the environment.
- An opportunity to work with ENPS to support a great idea.
As you know:
Single-use plastics take a long time to break down. They pollute the waterways, cause harm to wildlife and end up in landfill.
This July our slogan is: "It’s Thursday, fantastic! Refuse the plastic!"
We’re keen to know the strategies you come up with to reduce plastics in your lunch box, too. If you’ve got a great idea, please share it with your Enviro Rep and we’ll tell ENPS.
Have a great school break everyone. See you in July!
Kind regards,
Enviro Club
Junior Visual Arts
This week in art, we worked on our drawing skills. Foundation students created self-portraits in their disco gear. Year Ones completed a drawing depicting a disco duck and Year Two students were inspired by the artist Salvador Dali and created birds with long thin legs.
Below are some of the works of art in progress.
Happy holidays junior school artists!
