From the Deputy Principal

The theme of community runs strongly through our school. As well as being a community within ourselves, we also cultivate Great Southern Grammar’s standing within the wider Albany and Great Southern community.
This past week has seen Grammar students participate in the Albany Eisteddfod. This community event is a showcase of music and the arts. I am pleased to say that our students represented themselves and our school incredibly well, both in terms of their conduct and their talent. Congratulations to all those involved and well done to the students who came away with a prize.
Our Wednesday Service Program has been in full swing this term, with students going out into the community to lend a helping hand. Students have been cleaning church gardens, helping at the King River Pony Club, eradicating an invasive wattle species, working on reconciliation projects, and older students have been supporting younger students in the Primary School. As part of our Year Eleven Certificate IV Business program, students have also been helping the Albany Community Foundation coordinate the 'Shelter Together' event, previously known as 'The Big Sleepout', which raises funds and awareness for homelessness in our local community.
As we continue to review our co-curricular programs at the school, service-learning opportunities will remain an important part of our offerings.
