This semester, our Grade 3 and 4 students have started an exciting new topic in Passions called “Challenges.” As part of the LAUNCH cycle, students are currently in the Look, Listen and Learn phase, where they are exploring six different mini-challenges. After each one, students reflect on what they found difficult, how they managed to overcome the challenge, and what strategies or teamwork skills helped them succeed.
Over the next two terms, students will continue working through each stage of the LAUNCH process. In Term 4, they will design and create a product that is designed to challenge someone else -putting their creativity, problem-solving, and resilience to the test!
What a delightful celebration! Our recent Book Character Parade was a resounding success, bringing our Book Week festivities to life with creativity, colour, and a shared love for storytelling.
Students and staff dazzled in imaginative costumes inspired by beloved literary characters—ranging from fairy-tale favourites to contemporary heroes. The school grounds were alight with joy and enthusiasm as everyone paraded together, embodying the magic of books and reading.
A huge thank you goes out to families for their creativity and support—your efforts truly helped make this event so special. Celebrations like these foster a vibrant reading culture and remind us all why stories and imagination matter.
The Book Swap was a huge success! A big thank you to everyone who took part by donating a pre-loved book or bringing a golf coin to purchase a 'new' one.
Special thanks to our amazing Grade 6 helpers and Story Dog handlers, Megan and Anne-Marie, for running the stall. They kept the collection tidy for each class, handled the money, and helped students choose their books.
Besides the fun of choosing a new book, we’re thrilled to announce that we raised $488.50 for Story Dogs! Megan and Anne-Marie were incredibly grateful for the support and shared that the SPPS students were "enthusiastic and delightful with lovely manners."
It was heartwarming to see students enjoying their new books in the playground.
This is what the students had to say:

In Prep, we have begun to learn the structure of a story, where there is a sequence of a beginning, middle and end. Recently, we deepened our understanding of the Aboriginal Dreamtime story called Tiddalick the Frog. Below you will see the beginning, middle and end of this story written by three different Prep students in their own words. Except for the words 'Tiddalick' and 'Australia', the spelling has been independently done by the Preps! Enjoy reading the retold Dreamtime story of Tiddalick the Frog, as well as being wowed by the Aboriginal inspired artwork to match. You will see people meeting in a circle, animal tracks and waterholes in the artwork.
