KITCHEN AND GARDEN PROGRAM FOR 2025

Snack Shack

We have had a fabulous fortnight and the snack shack customers keep coming back for more. This week we whipped up 15 pink musk slices. We are so happy that all the proceeds from this weeks sale will go to Breast Cancer research.

With the holidays coming up with took the opportunity to 'travel through food' with a delicious Moroccan Carrot Salad, making the most of our carrots from the garden.  It was a surprise hit with the students, as was the Beetroot Chocolate Brownies also featuring our school-grown produce.  The star of the show was our stuffed focaccia, which is the perfect way to use up whatever left over vegetables you might have in the bottom of the fridge!  You can find all the recipes below.  With some extra time over the holidays, we are looking forward to hearing what you all get up to cooking over the school holidays and we'd love to share your photos if you care to send them in.

As always, we would love to see you in the kitchen helping with classes.  You don't need to be an experienced cook but an extra pair of hands and eyes can really help out, and it's great fun to see the kids in action.  There is no need to let us know you're coming, please just sign in at the office and ensure you have completed your volunteer requirements with Vicki.

Also please ensure each student has a kitchen hat as they are required to be worn at every class.  They are available to order from the uniform shop for $10.

Garden

The sun is shining and the garden is growing. Our students planted heaps of seeds this fortnight with pumpkin, cosmos and dill going in today.

The hothouse if full with all their seedlings.

This week our year 3s tended to the chickens, helping get the coop nice and tidy for the holidays. we fed our worms and also started our pest control by removing soldier beetles.

GARDEN GURUS - make sure you have a look at the newly planted garden in the front of the main building. More plants went in this week and we now have some habitat logs for our native critters.

If you have any large logs or rocks we would love to use them in our new habitat gardens. Bring them along in term 4.

If you are interested in helping plant habitat and food for our native animals, we meet each Wednesday 2.15-3.15pm. Bring your gloves and have fun

Volunteering in garden-Volunteering is super easy and so much fun. You dont need to be a garden guru either. We just want you to come along and help our brilliant kids with any garden tasks they do.

You do however need a current working with childrens check and complete a simple orientation through the office (5 mins) and then your ready to go.

You can either rock up on the day of your childs session or let me know prior. They more helpers we have, the more advanced work the kids to do. You dont even have to have a student in the program to volunteer. Just come along and hang out. You may even just want to help in the garden in general. Again, no experience required! You can come and potter around anytime. Just let me know when  your are coming and Ill set you up with some tasks.

Happy gardening!!

Stationary Recycling through Office works

Office works offer a great Bring It Back Program that offers a recycling option for lots of different office and tech supplies. Located at our Recycle Station in the foyer, we have a school stationary recycyling box. Next time you are tidying up your stationary and come across, unwanted, broken or end of life stationary, bring it in and pop it in the box. Each box we deliver to Officeworks for recycling, gives an entry to win a voucher to spend in store.
