Knox Grammar and Newington College Invitational: A Day of Determination and Achievement in Athletics
Despite the blustery winds, the sun shone brightly on our team as Knox Grammar and Newington College hosted an exciting carnival. Our athletes kicked off the day early with the 3km race, where Charlie Ackland led the pack, clocking an impressive time of 10:29. Meanwhile, Scott Dunlop continues to sharpen his skills in the hurdles with strong performances.
Several students achieved personal bests on the track, including James Sukkar in the 13-year-old 200m sprint. A special shoutout goes to Christian Harada, who looks set to break records this year in both the 100m and 200m events.
Our ever-growing field team also made a strong impression, with many trying new disciplines. Notably, Caspian Bahadori showcased his talent in Javelin, while Lachlan Hanna impressed in Discus.
The day wrapped up with a standout 1500m run from Benjamin Proszenko. Battling the wind, Ben managed to beat a key rival and set a personal best time of 4:29.58—an excellent finish to an inspiring day.
We are excited as we prepare for our invitational next week. Come out and support our athletes as they gear up for the ISA Championships on 16 September!

14A Champions
After a weather-related delay, the 14A team finally took to the field for their Grand Final clash against St Stanislaus' College at St Gregory’s College. It was fantastic to see so many members of the SPC community there to cheer them on.
From the very first whistle, our boys faced not only a strong St Stanislaus' side but also battled fierce winds that made conditions challenging. The match was intense, featuring powerful hits from both teams. St Stanislaus' took an early lead, but SPC fought back hard and leveled the score just before halftime.
The game remained tightly contested right until the final moments, and we are proud to announce that our 14A team emerged as champions! Congratulations to all the players, coaches, and supporters who made this victory possible.
