NSW Netball Regional Finals

On Wednesday 3 September I had the pleasure of watching our Year 6A netball team compete in the NSW Netball Schools Cup Regional Finals. The team played four round games throughout the day, finishing at the top of their division. They then progressed to the semi-final and ultimately to the Grand Final.

In the final match they faced William Clarke College and secured a convincing victory, winning 21–5! The team has now qualified for the State Final where they will compete to be crowned the best primary school netball team in NSW.

While their performance on the court was outstanding, what made the day even more special was the way they represented Kambala. The girls demonstrated exceptional sportsmanship, teamwork, and behaviour throughout the event.

We are very proud of all of them.

Big congratulations to super coach Vicki Bassil who has led this team to victory throughout the whole season.

Team members: Alexia Coburn, Charlotte Holmner, Harper Dunlop, Madeleine Schmidt, Sylvia Fowler, Zoe Learmonth, Zoe Mackay and Zoe Tzaneros.

Netball Semi-Final Success

It was a massive weekend for Kambala netball, with 8 out of our 16 teams progressing to the RNA semi-finals this season – and 7 of those making it into major semis. We're thrilled to announce that 5 teams have now secured their place in the Grand Final!

Kambala 1 continued their undefeated streak, dominating the court with an incredible 20+ goal win. They've been a powerhouse all season and Saturday’s performance showed just why.

Kambala 2 made history becoming the first Senior B team from Kambala to ever reach the RNA Grand Final. Their determination, grit and belief have been nothing short of inspiring.

Kambala 7 are a team of Year 11 friends, including some who only started playing this year. They delivered one of the standout performances defeating our neighbours KRB by more than 30 goals! A true testament to the power of friendship and teamwork in sport.

Kambala 10 has been dominant all season and showed their class once again, playing outstanding netball to earn a convincing win and book their place in the final.

Kambala 14, who were moved up a division mid-season, have remained undefeated. In an epic semi-final clash against top team Mascot, they held their nerve through extra time and came out victorious. What a game!

Meanwhile, Kambala 13 Years Blue and Kambala 12 both had narrow defeats in tight matches. They'll get one more chance this weekend to secure a spot in the Grand Final. We're backing them all the way!

A special mention to Kambala 13, who didn't win a single game last year but made it all the way to the semi-finals this season – an incredible achievement that reflects their hard work and growth.

Congratulations to all our teams – we’re so proud of your efforts, sportsmanship, and spirit. Let’s bring it home!

Senior Tennis Championships

The Senior Tennis Championships were played on Thursday 28 August and were a fantastic display of skill, sportsmanship and competitive spirit. It was a great day with even greater tennis played by all involved.

In the Singles Final, Arabella and Mila battled it out in a high-quality match, with Arabella coming out on top to claim the title.

The Doubles Final saw Arabella team up with Mila to face Laura and Emma. After some exciting rallies and close games, Mila and Arabella were victorious, securing the doubles championship as well.

Congratulations to all players on a successful day of Tennis!

NSWCIS Athletics

Our Junior School 10 and under Relay team drew inspiration from their Senior School counterparts after having a final training session together. The team of Francesca Brown, Isabella Jabboury, Georgie Ross and Sage Somerville won Silver at the NSWCIS to secure a spot for the upcoming PSSA State Championships. Kambala had great success in the individual events. Isabella Jabboury won the 10 years High Jump, increasing her personal best to 1.31m, an incredible feat when she is only 1.37m tall.

Sage Somerville and Isabella finished with Silver and Bronze in the Long Jump to progress to State. They also contested the 100m with Isabella winning the Bronze and Sage in 4th place. Our 8-year-old sprinter Maelys Paoli just missed qualifying for State finishing 4th in the 100m, she will be an athlete to watch develop in coming years. Claudia Fern- Lee had a busy day competing in Field events finishing 11th in the Long Jump and 15th in the Shot Put.

NSW PSSA Touch Football Championships

Congratulations to Claudia Fern-Lee who recently represented CIS at the NSW PSSA Touch Football Championships in Dubbo. Claudia made history as the first Kambala student to be selected for a CIS Touch Football team – an outstanding milestone given the depth of talent within our Touch Football program over the years. Across three days of competition, Claudia and her team played an incredible 12 games against the best primary school players in NSW, finishing a very respectable 7th overall.

We are so proud of Claudia for this remarkable achievement and the way she represented both CIS and Kambala with skill and determination.
