Father's Day Celebrations

We honoured and celebrated the Dad's and father figures in our school community on Friday the 2nd October with classroom visits and a breakfast in the hall.

Father's Day preparations began at St Roch's on the Tuesday before when our students chose gifts for their Dad's at the Father's Day stall organised by the Parents & Friends Committee. Particular thanks go to Monique Burke and Kimberley Bawden, the Year 6 class representatives, who ran the stall so beautifully, having purchased the gifts and created the stylish bag tags to make the gifts extra special.  Special thanks also to the Year 6 Mums who supported on the day. We hope the Dad's enjoyed all the careful selections made with love by their students.

The Dads, Uncles and father figures had a wonderful time in the classrooms where they enjoyed an activity with their child/children and were treated to a small gift or message of appreciation. There were many shared laughs in the hall afterwards as the Dad's exchanged notes on how old their children thought they were. We had some very young and some very old Dads amongst us!

After classroom visits our Dads were treated to the best Dads breakfast ever. Bacon and egg rolls and croissants, and a few other treats! There was much conversation and fun to be had as the Dads enjoyed catching up and chatting over their barista made coffee.  They were very impressed with the delicious food.

Enormous thanks to Elise Koelldofer and Sally Moyle who led the Father's Day breakfast and to Karen Crew who took the photos at the photo booth as the Dads arrived. Special thanks to the Year 1 support team who helped out behind the scenes to make the morning a huge success. It was a special morning and a big thank you to everyone who took part and supported these occasions.

We hope that our 'every day heroes' who we call Dad had an amazing morning at St Roch's .

The final event for the Dads was a men's dinner on Friday night. By all accounts this was another fun occasion for our Dad's to connect and spend time together. Thanks to Will and Dave for organising for organising this evening.

2025 Australian Interschools Snowsports Championships

Thousands of school-aged skiers and snowboarders arrived at Mt Buller for a week of competition as the best school aged snow sports athletes across Australia represented their schools and enjoyed a lively six days of racing and camaraderie on the snow.

With over 380 schools and 3500 individual entries all eager to show their skills and talents in their respective competitions.

Our two qualified competitors, Louis Zhang (grade 2) and Tommy Phillips (grade 4) both proudly competed.

Congratulations to both on their wonderful performances.

Term 3 Chess Club

Our Term 3 Chess Champions will be announced on Thursday morning at our greeting. We look forward to congratulating these students on their achievements.

We would like to thank all of our students who have participated in Chess Club over the past three terms. Chess Club will be back next year. We look forward to more sessions with Chess for Schools in 2026.

Gardening Club

Garden Club has been a hive of activity over the last few weeks. The children have observed that not much has been growing over the winter in the garden but we are slowly seeing the fruits of our labour as a few beans and peas have been available to pick. Growing and observing changes in a garden is an important link to students understanding of the seasons in a very tangible and hands on manner.

Gardening has long been celebrated for its many benefits. Homegrown (or in our case school grown) produce can provide a sense of accomplishment, and be a deeply rewarding experience for students. Recently, the children have planted some kale, spinach and the lesser known vegetable Luffa which we hope will grow up our climbing frame. Please do come down to the garden with your children to observe and talk about the changes that are always happening. The garden is for the whole community to enjoy.

The students who come to garden club have been really enjoying playing in the garden whist we wait for spring time to bring a new season of produce. Many children are enjoying pretend play in the garden with a plethora of ‘mud cakes’ and ‘mud soup’ being made during each session. The children use this time to engage in deep imaginative play, making games and interacting with each other using the materials that Mrs Meseha sets up alongside the garden space.

We look forward to learning, growing and watching what happens in the garden next.

Once again, a huge thank you Mrs Meseha and our very dedicated group of students who are regular helpers in the garden and spend time to improve all students wellbeing through the garden. We are very lucky!
