From Our Principals
Anna-Marie Yelland and Aaron Jones
Dear families,
Can you believe Term 3 is already over and the holidays are here?! After battling the dreaded flu over the past two weeks, I am most certainly looking forward to some rest and rejuvenation. I want to take a moment to especially thank Aaron and Helen for taking on more than their fair share while I have been unwell. It has been an incredibly busy fortnight with Father’s and Special Friends’ Morning, the Disco, and the Working Bee. Thank you to our P&F and all the volunteers who helped make these events such a success.
I feel incredibly fortunate to have attended my very first Ormond’s Got Talent. I was absolutely blown away by the talent at OPS. A huge congratulations to all the students who auditioned, and to those who were brave enough to share their talents with the whole school. I would also like to thank the Arts Captains for their organisation and the entire school for being such a wonderful audience.
New Gate Lock
We are always looking for ways to ensure our school remains as child-safe as possible. As part of this, the gate lock on Murray Road has been updated. From next term, the gate will be closed once the bell has gone, and all visitors will be required to enter through the office. The gates will reopen at 3:15 pm for parents and carers to come onsite for after-school pick-up.
An important part of this process is that if you are running late in the morning, your child must be signed in at the office by a parent or carer. Students are not permitted to sign themselves in.
Moorabbin District Athletics
We would like to congratulate the Ormond Primary School District Athletics Team who participated in the Moorabbin District Carnival on Monday 8 September. Well done on the fantastic results! The team came 3rd overall on aggregate scores.
Good luck to the following students who go on to represent the District in the Regional Carnival:

School Disco
On Friday 12 September we had a fantastic turnout for the school disco. The disco was a very successful event, and it was down to the hard work of our P&F. Thank you to all the volunteers and to our wonderful staff that supported the event also - Effie, Galina, Michelle, Emma, Delia, and a huge thank you to Helen who went to both the disco and ran the Working Bee on Sunday.
F-2 Open Morning and Y 5 & 6 Expos
Well done to F-2, 5 & 6 staff for very successful open classroom events. These were a testament to the quality learning environments you have in your classrooms. It was lovely to see the pride in both students and parents.
Chess Tournament
On Wednesday, our Chess provider, Mindful Chess, took a team of OPS students to compete in a tournament. Congratulations to the team on a superb effort.

Attached is a fun parenting tip from Social Stencil on encouraging children to pick up after themselves. The light hearted but practical tip is called “Pick Up Your Plops”.
