Dear Parents, Carers & Students,
As we approach the end of term and look forward to the school holidays, it’s a wonderful time to pause and reflect on all that has been achieved over the past weeks. Our students have worked hard, shown great perseverance, and embraced opportunities to learn and grow both in and out of the classroom.
The upcoming break offers a chance for students to rest, recharge, and spend time with family and friends. Just as important as learning at school is the balance of play, relaxation, and connection during the holidays. Whether it’s enjoying a good book, spending time outdoors, or simply slowing down, these moments help us return refreshed and ready for new challenges in the term ahead.
Here are some simple, fun ways families can nurture wellbeing together at home:
Gratitude Jar – Each family member writes down something they’re grateful for each day. Read them together at the end of the week.
Mindful Walks – Take a walk together and notice five things you can see, four things you can hear, three things you can touch, two things you can smell, and one thing you can taste.
Acts of Kindness Challenge – As a family, set a goal to complete 10 small acts of kindness over the holidays (e.g., write a thank you note, help a neighbour, bake for someone).
Family Reflection Time – Share “rose, thorn, and bud” each day:
Rose = the best part of your day
Thorn = the hardest part
Bud = something you’re looking forward to
Screen-Free Family Hour – Pick one hour each day to put away devices and do something fun together (board games, puzzles, cooking, or reading aloud).
Creative Calm – Try drawing, painting, or building something together that represents “holiday joy” or “family perseverance.”
We thank our families for their ongoing support and encouragement. The partnership between home and school makes such a difference in helping our students flourish.
We wish all of our students and families a safe, happy, and restful holiday break, and we look forward to seeing everyone back for another exciting term of learning!
Warm regards,
Kellie Foley
