Faith in Action Team Initiatives

Dear Parents and Carers,

What a busy and fruitful term it has been at StMM! Reflecting on the term, I am truly amazed by the generosity, leadership and faith that our students have shown through the SRC Faith in Action Team (FIAT) initiatives. Here’s a snapshot of what we’ve been up to this term:

Vinnies Food Drive Donations (Week 2)

Thank you for your generous contributions to the Vinnies Winter Appeal. Our students worked together to prepare dozens of snack packs for the Vinnies Van, which provides food and essentials to people experiencing homelessness. With your support, we were able to fill an entire van with donations—an incredible achievement!

Fun faith Based meetings (Weeks 4-10)

This term, our SRC Faith in Action Team launched Faith-Based Fridays on the playground, inviting peers to gather for prayer, reflection and activities linked to the Church’s liturgical calendar. It has been a joy to see students step up in leadership, share their faith, and create opportunities for others to encounter God in meaningful ways.

These sessions have been a beautiful way for students to share prayer and faith in our school community. This week, Year 5 students will be invited to Scripture reflection and in week 10, Kindy students will be invited to do some liturgical dancing.

Recycling - Return and Earn

We are still collecting plastic bottles, cans and poppers with the 10c label. You are warmly encouraged to bring your recyclable bottles in from home and drop them off in our labelled yellow recycling bin, which is outside the Assembly area. 

So far, StMM has recycled 411 eligible containers — raising $41.10 to support future FIAT initiatives. Every little bit makes a difference, so thank you for your continued support!

What’s happening next - Week 10 to the end of October

October is World Mission Month, a time for us to celebrate and support the vital work of missionaries who serve communities in need around the world. Please stay tuned and look out for the Compass note next week with more information.
