Level 3 & 4

Week 7, Term 3

Production

On Wednesday, our whole cast will take part in a full-day rehearsal at Mount Lilydale Mercy College, in preparation for our Matilda Junior performances on Wednesday and Thursday night. Cosumes will be coming home on Tuesday. Please bring your child dressed in their costume to school on Wednesday along with a jumper/jacket to protect it during eating times at the theatre dress rehearsal. The show is already looking fantastic, and we are confident it will be an event to remember! Keep practising the songs as much as possible.

District Athletics

District Athletics will be held on Thursday, the 4th of September. Good luck to our Grade 4 aspiring athletes!

CBL

We will continue learning about the eras of education, focusing on how learning tools have changed over time. Ask your child what they discovered about school in the olden days this week!

Reading

We are continuing to read Kensuke’s Kingdom. In this chapter, Michael is introduced to Kensuke, a Japanese man who became stranded on a deserted island during World War Two. Students may enjoy discussing what Michael thinks of Kensuke when they first met, and why the author might have written their relationship this way.

Writing

Students are continuing to write their adventure stories. They are focusing on building tension during the problem and resolving their narratives in a way that shows how their character has changed, learned, or grown through their adventure through rich and varied word choice. Ask them to share their narrative ideas with you.

Maths

We are beginning our new unit on fractions. We will start by identifying and representing halves, quarters, fifths, and tenths of shapes and collections. Students are encouraged to notice fractions in the real world, such as when cooking.
