Brigidine Campus News

Congratulations to the graduating class of 2025!
As the chapter of your secondary schooling comes to an end and you look forward to a very bright future, we hope you take with you the lessons you have learned along the way. We hope you strive to achieve your very best if you are sitting your VCE examinations in the coming weeks. If you are stepping into full time employment, we hope that you present the very best version of yourself as you find your feet ‘in the real world’.
For those of you who are taking a gap year, still navigating the idea of life beyond the safe walls of St Joseph’s College, we hope you reflect back on your time here fondly as you make decisions about your future. We hope we have instilled in you our values and we will sit back and watch you achieve your goals in the coming years.
We look forward to celebrating on Monday at our Liturgy, Graduation Ceremony and Supper.
Our Year 10 and 11 students have come back to a sunny spring term, and I take this opportunity to remind them that in less than four weeks they will be sitting their Semester Two examinations. Now is certainly the time to commit to their studies and we ask for your support at home to instil a strong work ethic in your child so they are able to achieve their best.
Uniform
The sun certainly has begun to shine and with that comes our expectations to wear a hat. This is an important part of sun protection and students are reminded that without a hat they will need to move indoors. We further encourage students to apply sunscreen at home in the morning in preparation for the day.
We also remind our students that they are required to wear their academic uniform every day unless they are participating in a practical subject that requires their sport uniform. Support from home regarding the uniform and wearing it with pride is appreciated.
Victoria Park Redevelopment
We have been advised by Campaspe Shire Council that the highly anticipated Victoria Park Multipurpose Facility Redevelopment Project is set to commence in mid-October 2025.
The $13 million redevelopment will deliver a new sporting oval, grandstand, changerooms, function space and emergency relief centre. Once complete, it will not only provide our students with greater access to first-class facilities, but also create new opportunities for the entire community to come together through sport and events.
What does this mean for St Joseph’s College
During the construction phase, safety is our highest priority. The site will involve heavy machinery and regular vehicle movement, so students and families must avoid entering or walking through the construction zone at all times.
Once works commence, there will be restricted access to Victoria Park, particularly in the area around the oval where many senior students park their cars. While we are unsure when access will be restricted, we recommend that drivers start planning alternate parking options now. Some parking will remain available nearby - please refer to the map provided on the Council website: https://www.campaspe.vic.gov.au/Our-services/Parking/Parking.
Students are welcome to use the parking area behind the tennis courts, though spaces are limited. We also ask all drivers to be mindful of local residents and other users in these areas.
As the weather warms up, drivers may wish to explore alternative travel options, such as walking, cycling, catching the bus or carpooling where possible.
Student access to facilities
During the construction period, the sporting oval will be unavailable for school use. However Council has confirmed that our students will continue to have access to the following areas in the Vic Park precinct for lunchtime activities and PE classes:
● The netball courts
● The large green space adjacent to the netball courts
● The existing toilet facilities located at the netball courts
While this will mean a temporary change to the way we use Victoria Park, we are confident students will continue to enjoy active, engaging opportunities during the redevelopment phase. This includes approved access to our new College Gym and the expansion of outdoor spaces at Brigidine Campus to support active and passive play for our students.
We acknowledge this adjustment may take some getting used to, but the end result will be well worth it. We look forward to our students and families having access to this revitalised community sporting hub that will serve our College and the wider Echuca Moama community for many years to come.
Thank you in advance for your patience, understanding and support as we move through this exciting stage of progress.
