Burnie Primary Student Leaders

So far, this year has been a blast as we’ve had Cross Country, the Madagascar show and the NWPSSA for all the top five runners from the Cross Country race.
Our main event in Term 2 was the Cross Country, which was awesome. The leaders helped the Lower Primary races, running through and guiding them throughout the races. The Kinders did an obstacle course which included hurdles, balance beams and ducking under the parachute before running as fast as they could over the finish line. They thought it was amazing. We ate our recess and got ready for the Upper Primary races which felt like forever until it was our turn and then as the gun fired, we shot off. We all tried our hardest and in the end, the scores were Luther In first with a massive 319 points, Carey close behind with 295 and Wesley following with 282 points.
The next very exciting thing was that the Preps to Year 4s got to go to the Madagascar show. They got on the bus and headed to the Burnie Arts and Function Centre where they found their seats and all waited for the show to start. The costumes were great, and the cast did an incredible job of bringing the show to life. They even interacted with the audience by walking past and showing off their amazing costumes and saying "hi" to everyone they knew. Everyone said it was awesome seeing their friends that participated in the show, complimenting how good they were at acting their part, and we are all very grateful to the Burnie Musical Society for organising this amazing show.
And last, but certainly not least, we had some students from Upper Primary go to the North West Primary Schools Sports Association (NWPSSA) where the top five runners from all across the Northwest Coast competed against each other in a tough 2.5k run, and a few of our students even got top five. So, they are going to the state competitions versing the best of the best, and we are so proud of the school going in and having a good go at it.
So, in conclusion, it has been an incredible start to our year with so many exciting events happening already; we can’t wait for the rest of the year.
