The Year 3 and 4 students this week explored the world of forces through a series of fun carnival-style games. From magnetic fishing to ping pong toss, table top bowling, the ramp roll challenge, and a paper airplane target toss – every game was a chance to identify and understand how contact and non-contact forces work. Students investigated how pushes, pulls, gravity, friction, and magnetism influenced the outcome of each challenge, linking real-world fun with key scientific concepts.
This week our Year 5 and 6 students took on the challenge of turning everyday objects into game controllers using Makey Makeys – an invention kit that turns anything conductive into a touchpad. With some clever thinking and a lot of enthusiasm, students transformed carrots and metal spoons into fully functioning game controllers! They used these imaginative setups to play a wide variety of digital games, learning all about circuits, conductivity, and creative problem-solving along the way.
Stay curious and keep experimenting!
