From the Principal

We would like to acknowledge the original custodians of this land

and waterways and pay our respects to the Elders past and

present and emerging, for they hold the memories, the traditions,

the culture and hopes of Indigenous Australia.

St Anthony's Feast Day

The feast day of St Anthony is next Friday, 13 June.

In the lead up to this day each class will look at the aspects of St Anthony's life.  His life displayed the charisma and practices that made him a saint, held in high esteem by his peers and in our lives today.

As the Patron Saint of our Parish and School it is always important to remind ourselves of the life of this special saint and how he still can bring hope and inspiration to all of us, no matter what stage of life we are at.

St Anthony of Padua's life is an example of what Christian life is meant to be; a steady courage to face the ups and downs of life, the call to love and forgive, to be concerned for the needs of others, to deal with crisis great and small, and to have our feet solidly on the ground of total trusting love and dependence on God.

To celebrate this important feast day for our school we will be having two events due to commitments from the HOLT Sporting Association that our senior students are involved in on Friday 13 June.

All families are invited to the first event which will be held on Wednesday 11 June with a Prayer Celebration at 3.00pm and the second on Friday 13 June starting with Mass at 9.15am. The parish will hold the celebrations on Sunday 15 June so please refer to their schedule.

The students will also take part in activities with Kaboom Kids Sports, a shared lunch and then a number of activities in class.

School Athletics Day

Our yearly School Athletics will be held on Monday 23 June at the Duncan MacKinnon Reserve North Road Murrumbeena.  This is a day when all students will take part in events in their house colours of Padua- Red, Xavier - Green, Nagle - Yellow or Siena - Blue.  Mr John Mitchell has been practicing with the children so that they can all take part in the the  running races and then other events such as tabloid sports for the junior students and more in-depth events such as long jump, high jump, etc. with the senior students. More information will be sent via Operoo.

The Luke Bailey Memorial Trophy Courage Award:  The trophy is awarded to an individual athlete who shows great effort and displays great sportsmanship at the athletics, who tries their best at all times with courage.

The Paul Vella Memorial Trophy Spirit Award:  The trophy is awarded to an individual athlete who shows great effort and displays great sportsmanship, who encourages all other students in their efforts.

Parents are encouraged to come along to support their children. To enable the day to run smoothly we require some parent volunteers on the day. All parent volunteers must have a current Working With Children Check Card.

Year 3 Reconciliation

Congratulations to the Year 3 students:  Millie, Leonardo, Molly, David, Peter, Julian, Noah, Timothy, Sophie and Xavier who completed the program of the Sacrament of Reconciliation.  As special thank you to  Hector and Nikita who supported their class members during this time.  As always they were well prepared for this sacrament where they took their own responsibility for it under the guidance of their teachers Ms Melanie Norton and Mrs Linda DiCamillo.  "Thank you!" to Mr Tim O'Mahoney who made this time a special celebration for the students and their parents.

Curriculum Day

A reminder that Tuesday 10 June is our Curriculum Day with OSHC being open for the families that need it.  Students should not attend school on this day.

“Compassion toward our neighbors ought to be threefold:

if they sin against us, we ought to forgive them.

If they stray from the path of moral integrity and truth, we should instruct them.

If they are in need, we must help them.”      St. Anthony of Padua.

Yours sincerely

Margaret Carlei
