Principal's Report

Welcome to our new Newsletter

Dear community,

As we continue our journey through this school year, I would like to share some highlights and important updates with you.

Mother’s Day Stall

Last week, we held our Mother’s Day stall, and it was a lovely success! Many parents volunteered to help us set up and support the event. Thank you to everyone who contributed! We hope the gifts chosen by the children brought joy to all the mothers and special figures in our students’ lives. We always welcome feedback for next year’s event to make it even better!

ANZAC Commemoration

In the first week of this term, we held our ANZAC commemoration. Although the weather was not on our side and we had to move the ceremony indoors, it was still a meaningful occasion. We appreciate the understanding of our community, and we thank Mr. Peter Hills from the local Arncliffe RSL for joining us and sharing their insights. We look forward to better weather next year so we can invite more families to join us in this important remembrance.

School Vegetable Garden

I am excited to share that our school vegetable garden, run by Ms Engles, has had a fantastic season! We have harvested a lot of fresh produce, which has been used in cooking experiences with the students. This hands-on learning not only teaches them about healthy eating but also helps them understand where their food comes from. Thank you, Ms. Engles, for your dedication to this wonderful initiative!

AWIS Playgroup

I am pleased to announce that the AWIS playgroup is up and running, led by Miss Salwa and Miss Ellie. This program provides fun activities and experiences for children aged 0-5 who are not yet enrolled in school. Children in our preschool who do not attend on Wednesdays are also invited to join. A parent or caregiver must be present at all times. The playgroup runs every Wednesday from 9:30am to 11:20am in the purple room. It is free to join, and we encourage you to bring snacks and a water bottle for your child/ren.

Upcoming Leave

Please note that I will be on leave this week and next week. During my absence, Mr. Ikin will be the relieving principal, while Mrs. Bazzi and Mrs. Lane will continue to support the school in their roles as assistant principals. I am confident they will ensure everything runs smoothly.

Revised Report Format

I would like to inform you that the Department of Education has introduced a revised report format for student progress. This new format aims to provide clearer information about your child’s achievements and areas for growth. We hope this change will help families better understand their child’s learning journey. Reports will go home in week 9.

Parent-Teacher Interviews

Please mark your calendars for the parent-teacher interviews, which will be held across Week 10, with the main afternoon being Wednesday, 2nd July. These interviews are open to all parents across preschool to Year 2. An online booking system will be available in the coming weeks, making it easy for you to schedule a time to meet with your child’s teacher.

Thank you for your ongoing support and involvement in our school community. Together, we are creating a positive and nurturing environment for our children to thrive.

Kind regards,

Bryce Hageman
