Art

Recently IPS were lucky to receive a couple of small cubby houses from Box Hill Tafe made by some of their apprentices. One cubby house has already been painted by kind parents at a working bee, the Grade 6 Art Captains were tasked with painting the one outside the Treehouse.
The cubby house before painting.
First they created their design, with lovely flowers, butterflies and bees all around. Our handyman Leo painted a nice cream undercoat ready for them to start painting.
We mixed some of the colours with white paint to create a few tints, and then they were ready to start. It was a little tricky at first as they had never painted on a vertical surface before. After a couple of run away drips the Art Captains learnt how much paint to load on their brush to avoid the drips.
Over a couple of lunchtime sessions as the Foundation students eagerly watched on, the Captains had a wonderful time painting the cubby house and gained some valuable experience in house painting. The transformation is complete, including a doorbell to press and a letter box to receive mail. Great job Art Captains, what a wonderful legacy you have created for the school!
