Sovereign Hill Camp

Sovereign Hill Camp

At the end of last term, the year 5 and 6s went on school camp to Sovereign Hill to experience living in the 1850s. After a long bus trip, we  dropped our stuff off at our hotel and went to explore. We got to see how the raspberry drops were made. At the costume school, we dressed in a long dress, pantaloons, an apron and a bonnet (which was uncomfortable). For two days, we learned what it was like to go to school during the Gold Rush, which was very different from school now. We got to pan for gold, see what it was like to live on the Gold Fields and explore the Chinese Camp. I’ll be looking forward to returning to Sovereign Hill again.
