Principal's Report

Principal report

We’ve had an action packed couple of weeks at school and I am very grateful to the staff who have worked over time to avail our students of so many important opportunities outside the classroom.

Pat Cronin Foundation

A speaker from the Pat Cronin Foundation spoke very openly and explicitly to our 7-12 students about the possible consequences of anger responses and violent actions. Using many real life incidents, her talk resonated strongly with the students and hopefully they will remember the strategies she outlined to help keep them, and their friends, safe.

Tomorrow Man/ Tomorrow Woman

The year 10 and 11 students participated in a session with the Tomorrow Man/Tomorrow Woman organisation, breaking down gender stereotypes and exploring options for seeking assistance with mental health.

The staff also participated in a session after school.

Cross Country

In the past two weeks all of our students have completed the House Cross Country as well as the next level of inter schools. Well done to all those who ran fast, but also congratulations to the vast majority of students who turned up and had a go- great examples of our school value of Growth Mindset.

Mothers’ Day Afternoon Tea

Thanks to Michelle Carmody and her staff and student helpers who organised the afternoon tea for mums, grandmas and other mothering people last week. It was wonderful to see so many in attendance.

Do it For Dolly

The Inspire house fund raising and awareness Do it for Dolly Day was also a fabulous success. The school was a sea of blue hues and the messages of kindness on the blue court wall summed up the mood of the day. Fighting bullying is an ongoing quest for all schools, and any activity that raises awareness and initiates discussion is a good one.

Career’s Week

Many thanks to Liz Fowler for organising an incredible week of career’s activities, culminating in a Trade’s Taster Expo in the Activity Centre. There were dozens of trades on display for our 7/8 students to investigate. The students even had the opportunity to breathalyse me!

Car Parking

The Activity Centre works are nearing completion. In the meantime, we really appreciate everyone’s patience in keeping this area safe for  our students.

School for Student Leadership

Next term, 5 of our year 9s will be heading to Marlo in Gippsland to participate in a term long program of leadership and self discovery. Expressions of interest have gone home with this year’s year 8s, prior to us submitting a request for places next year. Please make sure I have those forms if you are interested.
