Welcome to learning in 6A

This term we are currently deepening our skills within Mathematics. Our current focus is on Algebra. In this unit, students start to dig deeper into the symbolic language of maths, learning how to represent and work with relationships using algebraic expressions, equations, and formulas. Through the OCHRE lens, there’s a strong focus on getting students to clearly explain their thinking out loud, make meaningful connections to real-life situations.

When reflecting on their progress, 6A explained:

Hailey: I learned how to add the letters together, you just need to count how many of each letter and then you write that number in front of the letter.

Samihan: Pronumerals are used in Algebra for when you have a variable. The letter can be changed to any number and then you can have different answers when you use different numbers instead of the letter.
