Year 6 RE Test
Last term Year 6 sat the Year 6 RE test. All Year 6 students across the Armidale diocese sit the test. The test is designed to assess the learning the students have accessed across their time in a Catholic primary school.
Our Year 6 students were very successful, with 50% achieving higher than the diocesan average. A special congratulations to our highest performing students, Joseph Sullivan, Isabelle Carter and Pippa Fleming for receiving a High Distinction and to Estelle Hartin, Bruce Antees, Hazel Picone and Agnes Tighe for receiving a Distinction.

St Mary of the Cross MacKillop Feast Day
On Thursday 8th August, we will celebrate the feast day of Australia's 2nd Patron Saint, St Mary of the Cross MacKillop. A liturgy will be held in the school hall at 11:45am. Parents and carers are invited to attend.
Prayer for the Feast Day
God of compassion, God of all people, we praise you for your servant, Mary MacKillop, who gave her life to serve you in the poor and oppressed. As she is honoured in our world, may we continue to learn to share her vision. Help us to recognise, as she did, that the poor of our time will hear the gospel in the way we serve them. Be with us as we strive to follow her and carry out our mission of service and care.

The Assumption of Mary Feast Day
On Thursday 15th August, we will celebrate this important feast day with a whole school mass in the school hall, at 11:45am.
On this Feast Day, Catholics traditionally celebrate Mary going to heaven. The tradition is that 'God took Mary, body and soul, to heaven after her life on earth had come to an end'. We invite parents, carers and our parish community to join us.
Sacrament of Confirmation
Our Year 6 students are preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation. This will be held on Sunday 11th August at 11am. All members of the school and parish community are invited to attend.
K-4 Mass
Kindergarten will host the K-4 Term 3 on Friday 9th August. Mass will begin at 9:10am in the church. Kindergarten invite all parents and special guests to attend.
Save the Date- St Philomena's Founders Day
24th September (Our Lady of Mercy Feast Day) will see St Philomena's celebrate our first Founders Day. St. Philomena's was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1898. This will be a day of celebration for our school to acknowledge our Mercy heritage. More information to follow soon.
