Foundation ~ Prep News

This week the Foundation students had an exciting day out at Kyabram Fauna Park, as the culmination of their learning this term. We have been learning about the weather and how people and animals use their features and adapt in order to survive extreme weather conditions.

The children were able to look at the different animals and describe how they stayed warm, such as reptiles using the sun or warm rocks to heat up, or the dingoes thickening their fur coats over the winter. They identified different animals by their classification, such as mammals, reptiles and birds. They found some nocturnal animals and looked at the habitats of animals that hibernate. They also found the dinosaurs (SO life like!!) and wondered how extreme weather caused their extinction.

What a great way to finish the Semester!

Learning all about 'Bertha' the Blue Tongue, or commonly known as Stumpy tail lizards.
Can we get our arms all the way around this beautiful old tree?
Getting up close and personal with the wildlife.
Dinosaurs galore!
Watch out - it's a T-Rex!
This cockatoo was very patient with us.
Viewing the wetlands!
This dingo came up close so we could look at his features and the way his coat was changing to cope with the colder weather.
