Students who don't have an adult attending will remain in their classroom, with the classroom teacher present, to complete the activities.

CURRICULUM

Due to the shorter week, and our gardening sessions on Monday and Tuesday, there will be a reduced program.

📚 Literacy

In reading, students will read decodable words, phrases and texts, using their knowledge of sounds to segment and blend words.

In writing, we will reflect on our learning about Country and the most important.

In handwriting, students will revise the exit and entry points for 'the boss' letter u, and the related 'cousins' - y and w.

What can you do at home over the holidays?

-Help your child to read decodable books on the iPad - 'Pip and Tim' and 'Wiz Kids'

-Explore the Reading Eggs library and Fast Phonics to read decodable texts

-Continue to revise sounds on the sound/letter rings

-Reinforce correct entry and exit points for letters if your child writes at home. We have attached the posters below for the letters we have revised so far:

🔢  Maths

This week, we will revisit subtraction to cement our understanding of taking away from a larger number to make a smaller number. Students will explore this through use a range of manipulatives (eg. unifix, counters, playdough, number lines, tens frames).

What can you do at home over the holidays?

-Use Mathseeds on the iPad to explore revise number concepts

-Use the app 'Friends of Ten' on the iPad to practise addition and subtraction

🌏 CBL - Country

Students will participate in completing the challenge to transform the 'Imagination Garden' to the 'Prep Welcome Garden'. Every child will spend time in the garden, doing things like raking, mulching, painting and planting.

Please see the email sent last week regarding all the details about how you can help!

Finally...

🌨️Happy Winter Holidays!

We hope you and your family have a cosy winter holiday! Thank you for a wonderful, rigorous term of learning alongside your child. We hope that you and your family get some well deserved 'down time'. See you next term!
