ResourceSmart Schools Awards 2024
On the 4th of June, four students from the Green Team were invited to attend the annual ResourceSmart Schools Awards Ceremony, held in the MCG. At the Award Ceremony, we were able to showcase the achievements of Brentwood Secondary College’s Green Team, sharing with the other schools and organisations our school’s ResourceSmart Schools journey in achieving 5 RSS stars. After the showcase, we were invited to the ceremony hall, and speeches were presented by individuals from event organizers, ResourceSmarts Schools, Sustainability Victoria, and the Department of Education introducing the awards ceremony agenda of “Legacy”. Afterwards, we participated in Deakin University’s activities, still life demonstrations of what the future will be in terms of our climate.
After being served lunch provided by the venue, the awards ceremony commenced and we were enlightened to see so many schools, both primary and secondary, win awards from the various awards categories for their achievements. We were able to interact with many of the students and educators from these schools and share the projects in where we implement in school and consider adopting some of which to continually improve our school’s sustainability. After the award, we were given a tour around the MCG.
Overall, the experience was highly enlightening being able to connect with so many like-minded people from various different organizations all striving to be the change we wish to be in the world.
