Term 2 House Day

On the 27th of May, our school held Term 2’s House Day where students dressed up in house colour corresponding accessories to display pride in the houses that they are a part of. We thoroughly appreciate seeing so many students and teachers participating for that day displaying their connection to their houses while also simultaneously sustaining the respect of the school by wearing our uniform correctly.

During house day, students had the option of participating in a handful of activities which were held during their aspire classes. To list some were the Quiz and Kahoot! – which was played by every class against another class throughout all our classes. 50 points were given to the class that scored first. A House Litter Challenge was held during lunch where students would collect rubbish from the yard and achieve points as well as a sweet treat at the end! Stay tuned for House points tally soon!

During the Aspire classes, House assemblies were held for every house and student leaders used the opportunity to inform and talk about what their specific team does throughout the whole year to make it successful for the whole school community.

Our Green Team brought awareness across all the houses using statistics and facts about the right disposal of waste around the school yards which if not done would have an impact on our environment and our Brentwood pigeons. Pathways Treasure Hunt vouchers were also handed out to those students who had filled in the question sheet correctly given to at the start of the program. The SRC reminded the school community of how their voices are important to making the school a better place while also notifying them about their requests that are undergoing the process of action for the changes they wish to see in our school.

In addition to these series of positive remarks, we’d also like to acknowledge the accomplishment belonging to Raghad Yousif - presented in the Waratah house assembly by Gennadi Kazakevitch and Kathy West - regarding the Lion’s Youth of the Year Award, an annual program that promotes and encourages leadership and citizenship. Raghad had won three different awards, including one for our school which we had just so happened to have won multiple times. Way to go Raghad!

We also said Farewell to Mr Mackay in his role a Head of Waratah, as he sets off into his new endeavors as our new Director of Pathways, and welcomed Miss Scipione as the new Head of Waratah House.

This house day was a great success thanks to all those who helped plan and organize this event as well as those who participated in all the activities. I encourage more participation from our school community during the future House and Community days so that our school community can grow a strong bond as well as winning points for your House leading to the House Cup at the end of the year. GO BRENTWOOD!

Space-X-plore Tour

Brentwood is looking for students who will be in years 8-11 in 2025 with a passion and interest in space to travel with like-minded students from partner schools in the Waverley network to the USA in September 2025 on the Space- X-plore program with Global Learning Expeditions. This international camp was run successfully in 2023 and is once again being offered to interested students.

Highlights of the trip include the astronaut experience at the NASA Kennedy Space Centre in Orlando, San Francisco and Los Angeles.

For parents we have set up a unique trip page through YouLi (You Live to Travel) for our Waverley network school group via the link below. You are invited to register your details to be kept in the loop regarding an upcoming information session for the trip on Tuesday 29th November at 6pm at South Oakleigh Secondary college, in the Lecture Theatre.  It will also be live streamed so families can log in remotely if they can’t attend in person, details for which will be provided through this link.

Visit: https://youli.io/t/gle/usa-stem-space-tour-mars

Please note registration here and attendance at the information session do not commit you to attending the camp or any financial commitment. At this time, we are seeking interest to see if we have enough students to make the trip viable.

Please find attached a flyer for the program with more detail and costs, do not hesitate to contact myself directly if you have any questions.

Electronic device use at Brentwood Canteen

We would like to thank you for your continued support with the Personal Mobile Devices Policy. We have noticed students trying to utilise their phones as a payment method at the canteen and ask that families look to make other arrangements.

Mobile phones are not to be used at the canteen as they are not allowed to be in use between the school hours of 8.45am and 3.05pm.

Students can make payment via an EFTPOS card or cash.

Thank you for your cooperation.
