Dr Penny Ludicke

Dear Marian Catholic College Community,

We have now come to the end of an action packed term  full of many different activities enriching classroom teaching and learning this term. These include events in Creative Arts, Sporting, Teaching and Learning and Faith and Care spaces. Added to this are the Founder’s masses and House Activities, the magnificent Cabaret, the wonderful success in the Bill Turner Cup, an outstanding Athletics Carnival, diocesan sporting competitions, a combined staff spirituality day with the St Francis De Sales Leeton team, as well as guest presentations and excursions.

There have been guest performers presenting to students including Safe on Social,  Burn Bright, Drug Education, Students and the Law, the Maths Competitions, Public Speaking Competitions, Guest Performers, Karis Mission and the Year 11 Bonding Day-the list goes on. There is so much that our students and staff can be proud of this term.

Last Saturday evening, I was lucky to attend the combined Leeton and Griffith Cadets

Dining In experience, organised by Flight Lieutenant-Squadron Commander Micheal Borg with special Guests (past Governor General of Australia) General-the Honourable Sir Peter and Lady Cosgrove. Senior Under Officer-Ada Wiseman presided over the dining experience as Madam Dining President, with all ADF cadets attending representing our combined schools and communities exceptionally well. Please see the photo attached of Airforce Cadet Gemma Lynch with her medal.

And, as we come to the end of this very big term, on behalf of the MCC Community and myself, I would like to thank Mr Jacob Dal Nevo who will be moving onto a new job in Term 3. Jacob has been a teacher in the Mathematics department and Pastoral Leader for a number of years at Marian and will be much missed by many. We thank him for his care and support for his classes and students and the collegiality and friendship he has shown to all he works with.

Our best wishes go to Mrs Angela Morris and Mr Jonathan Morris who will be welcoming a new little baby next term. We are looking forward to Mrs Morris coming back next year after a period of parental leave. We also thank and keep Mrs Justine Parle in our thoughts and prayers. Justine took parental leave earlier this term and is expecting to welcome a new addition to her family very soon. We thank all teachers and support staff for their outstanding work and support for this school and its students, in a busy, brilliant and challenging term for all.

We wish good luck and a sad farewell to Year 12 Exchange student Michele Coric as she returns home to Italy and thank her for being such a great addition to the Year 12 cohort. Michele provided much friendship and fun to the cohort and will be very much missed over the next term.

I am delighted to announce that Mr Albert Alexander has been appointed as the new pastoral leader, replacing Jacob as Yr 12 Leader for Term 3 and then undertaking planning and transition work for the new Year 7 cohort for 2025.

Next term, both Year 11 and Year 12 will have Prelim and Trial exams. It will be a very big term for our senior students. We wish them all the best as they begin these important preparations and periods of study. Senior teachers will have provided information about holiday workshops available for HSC subjects. Information will be provided to Year 12 Parents and Carers regarding final celebrations, exams and Graduation matters very early next term- we are just pending some final confirmations. Year 10 will move into a term with a focus on plans for Senior Studies and subject selections and Year 11 will also begin preparations for Leadership opportunities for Term 4.

We hope that all  students, staff and parents and carers have time and the opportunity to rest and relax during the end of term break. I wish you a happy and restful holiday. For all those travelling, safe travels.

Our Lady of Mercy,

Mother of Jesus, we ask you to bless and guide our College Community over the next few weeks.

Show your loving care to all members of our community,

staff, students and families

and keep them safe in your care.
