Principal's Message

By Jenny Hassett

Term 3 start

A big thank you to all our of families for assisting with a great transition back to school. It was fantastic to see how well the students got back into the swing of things. The cold weather has not stopped our students wonderful attitudes.

Cyber-Safety for our senior students

This week our Grade 5-6  students sat and chatted with Robbie Noggler about internet safety. Robbie is a member of the Victorian Police, and was able to give insight and guidance on using the internet correctly; discussing common issues such as cyber-bullying. We are currently looking into running a parent session, and will look to seek your input on whether our parent community would find a session like this worthwhile.

Home Reading

Recently we have been discussing home reading (and how parents were having difficulty getting their child to read). Here are some tips that could possibly help!

  • Try to read with your child as soon as possible. Often children are too tired to read before bed.
  • If you read with your child early, you will have time after to give them rewards. Eg 'If you read tonight you can...' It also works the other way - no reading = no iPad/dessert!
  • Instead of your child reading a whole book etc, try an allocated time - such as 15 minutes. Sometimes using a timing device (iPad etc) can help.

Class Captains

Congratulations to our Semester two Class Captains. Please note that the students will be announced and presented with their badge at tomorrow's assembly and they do not know that they have been selected. Please keep the exciting news to yourselves and not spoilt the surprise.
