Principal's News

Dear SMCM Community, Wominjeka!

Welcome back to school and Term 3!

A new term brings possibilities and excitement for learning and working together. This term we look forward to the opportunity to celebrate a number of special events as a community including Grandparents & Special Friends, The Olympics, 100 Days of School for our Preps, Mary MacKillop Feast day, Book Week and Sports Colours day. We hope families will be able to join us in celebrating these events!

Capital Works Update

Our new look Boulevard Building was the talk of the school on Tuesday as our students returned for Term 3. The new glass partitions and sliding doors were installed over the holidays creating a more flexible use of the space and allowing the Visual Arts area to be separated from the homegroup learning spaces. This project cost $235,000 and was paid for with school cash reserves. Our basketball hard court is still under construction and will be completed when the weather improves. This project will cost approximately $70,000 and is being paid for with the funds raised at last year's Community Fair and this year's Colour Run.

Year 6 Camp

This week's newsletter is coming to you from Year 6 Camp Rumbug in Foster! Our Year 6 students should be very proud of the way they are supporting each other and stepping out side their comfort zones to try new things such as the giant swing, raft building, canoeing, mud run and team challenges. Thank you to Rachel, Narelle, Melissa, Mike, Paul, Bernie, Christine and Rhys for keeping our campers safe and happy over the three days. You can follow our adventures on Instagram @smcmeppingnth

We keep Beti, Dean, Angelina, Aleks (Reimagine homegroup), Filip (Ando homegroup) and Maksim (Einstein homegroup) in our thoughts and prayers after the sudden passing of Beti's father this week.

We keep Ashly, Liril, Meiba and Meeya (Cooper homegroup) in our thoughts and prayers on the passing of the girl's grandfather overseas.

Congratulations to Stephanie (staff), Paul and Mason on the safe arrival of your beautiful baby boy Mateo!

I look forward to continuing to work with our great community throughout Term 3!
