HIGHLIGHTS

ST MARY'S ATHLETIC CARNIVAL:

What a day we had on Tuesday at the Athletics Carnival; the sun was shining and Barlow Park was a wash of St Mary's colours, smiles and laughs! The day was an huge success, which saw  an incredible number of students participate in both track and field events. We congratulate students on their positive attitudes and fantastic efforts at the carnival. 

 

Excitingly, the carnival saw two college records broken: 

  • Belle Way (Year 7,) broke the Discus record, with a throw of 22.22m!
  • Reid Slatcher (Year 7) broke the Long Jump record, with a jump of 3.98m!

CISSA RESULTS

Last Wednesday, St Mary's Catholic College played in five Grand Finals. Well done to each of our teams that competed! 

 

We congratulate our teams listed below, that were crowned CISSA Champions for 2024: 

  • St Mary's Girls Touch Football: Defeated Trinity Bay 9 - 1. Summer Phair was named player of the final.
  • St Mary's Girls Netball: Defeated St Monica's 25 - 22. Zoe Stevens was named player of the final. 
  • St Mary's Boys Soccer: Defeated Bentley Park 3 - 2. Luke Haines was named player of the final.

CISSA AFL: 

St Marys AFL Senior girls team dominated their way through the pool games and semifinal. The girls played St Andrew's Catholic College in the Grand Final, however had a narrow loss. The team played remarkably well over the day with notable performances from Nelly Anu in the ruck and Shavinta Bann as captain midfielder. We sincerely thank Ms Marsh, Ms Garner, and Mr Podolczak for coaching and training the girls this season. =

CISSA RUGBY LEAGUE:

The St Mary's Rugby League team played Smithfield SHS on Wednesday and won connivingly 42-10. A great team effort on display with great execution of the game plan. Lachlan Kelly led his team fiercely and there were strong performances from Riley Richardt and Hunter Callaghan. 


Student Achievement: 

Congratulations to Lily Slade on achieving 2nd place in the U15 girls Interschool Mountain Bike race!


KEY INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS & PARENTS

Junior and Senior Sport Program - Key Information: 

All sport Information is uploaded to the Sports Canvas page. 

Year 7, 8 and 9 Students: Monday period 5 and 6

  • Students wear their house uniform. 
  • Please refer to the Junior Sports Plan to know what activity you will be doing and where you are to meet. This will be uploaded to the sports canvas page. 
  • JSS teams will be training and Junior Sport Rotations. 
  • All students to ensure that they bring a hat, water bottle and sunscreen. 

Year 10,11 and 12 Students: Wednesday Period 5 and 6

  • Year 10, 11 and 12 students to wear their SMCC sports uniform. 
  • Students will be engaging in CISSA challenge and sports rotations for Week 9. 
  • Please refer to the Senior Sports plan to know what activity you will be doing and where you are to meet. This will be uploaded to the sports canvas page. 
  • All students to ensure that they bring a hat, water bottle and sunscreen. 

TCS & PENINSULA TRIAL INFORMATION

TCS and Peninsula Trial Information:

Students who wish to trial for TCS must fill in the Peninsula Paperwork before trialling. This can be downloaded from the Sports Canvas page, or a printed copy can be collected from the leaflet box outside the Sports Office (near the Sports Mailbox).

 

Parents will need to fill in the Peninsula Paperwork and students are to return it to the Sports Mailbox.

 

The Sports Department will seek the relevant approvals from the College Leadership Team.

 

Students can collect the Peninsula Paperwork 2 days after submission from the Sports Office at lunch. 

 

Students will need to take this paperwork with them to the TCS trials (unless it is paper nominations). If it is a paper nomination parents will need to submit it via the link/QR code provided.
