CIS Cross Country Championships

Kinross Wolaroi School participated in the CIS Cross Country Championships across various age groups for both primary and secondary levels. The event, hosted at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre, featured over 500 students from 50 schools and attracted approximately 1,000 spectators. Despite challenging wet conditions due to recent heavy rain, the championships offered demanding courses with diverse terrain.

Highlights:

  • Skye Napier showcased dedication and competitive spirit by finishing 23rd out of 63 participants in the 14-year-old girls' category.
  • Ash Robinson demonstrated perseverance, securing 36th place out of 74 competitors in his age group.
  • Maxwell Horne displayed resilience throughout the race, finishing 46th out of 76 participants.
  • The U15 Girls Team, comprising Alice Dymock, Rahni Jarick, Alloway Whittle, and Anna Childs, showed significant improvement from their previous race at AICES, earning 2nd place. Their performance highlighted teamwork and determination.

Congratulations to all of our 2024 CIS Cross Country Representatives for their commendable achievements and contributions to the event.

Rugby

Last Friday our Girls Rugby players were treated to an outstanding opportunity. Thanks to our Rugby Club, Wallaroo Emily Chancellor came to Orange for the day to work with our girls. Adding to this experience, former Wallaroo Captain and ex-student Grace Hamilton had just returned home from playing in France, so our girls were gifted the chance to work with two female Australian Rugby legends.

The girls were put through a number of skills drills that focused on catch and pass, support lines and the contact areas of the game. Our girls were then offered the opportunity to mingle and ask questions. As we continue to develop our Girls Rugby Program, we look forward to taking the learnings from this session and applying them to our upcoming games.

Given the long weekend and then the decision to cancel our most recent games, there is little to report from Boys Rugby however in exciting news a number of our boys have been selected to represent ISA at the upcoming NSW Schools selection trials. Congratulations to Oscar Cleary, Jack Tink, Patrick Toberty, Sam Fabar, Harry Shea and Shep Taylor who were selected in the Opens squads. Congratulations also go to Lachlan De Vries, Pio Sinisa, Tom Tink and Angus Peterson who were selected in the U16s squads. We wish them the best of luck.
