Our wonderful ensembles and Year 12 musicians entertained an appreciative audience on Thursday 6 June at the Senior School Music Festival, which featured repertoire from classical to jazz and contemporary. They were treated to an evening of outstanding performances from concert band, orchestra, stage band, string orchestra, choirs, strings and brass ensembles, chapel band and soloists in a relaxed cabaret atmosphere. Our sincere thanks to all those who contributed to this successful evening. Bravo to our wonderful musicians!
Drama and Music students from Years 9 – 12 recently showcased their considerable performance skills to a large and appreciative audience of parents and friends. Students from these classes performed both individual and group works that had been prepared in Drama and Music classes. Congratulations to our amazing students and thanks to Performing Arts staff for their work in preparing these performances.
The Kinross Wolaroi Chamber Strings were recently treated to an afternoon with the Acacia Quartet. The afternoon began with a short performance by the Acacia Quartet, followed by a workshop with chamber strings, and concluding with a short performance. Junior string players attended both the Acacia Quartet and the Chamber Strings performance. All chamber strings students enjoyed working these talented musicians and were inspired by their musicality and ensemble skills.

The School's Con Brio String Quartet has had a very busy performance schedule over the past few weeks. The quartet, directed by Mrs Lorraine Moxey, is made up of violinists Isabel Wong and Bonnie McFee, violist Elijah Cunningham and ‘cellist Lottie McLeod.
They provided a beautiful prelude to the Purdue choir concert with thirty minutes of welcoming music prior to the concert. Later that week, they performed for the Golden Alumni gathering. The following Friday they again worked tirelessly to perform over half an hour of music to entertain the guests at the Annual Cadet Dinner held at the Ex-Services Club. They also performed again at the annual Music Festival. Their performances reflect their desire for excellence and their hard work. We thank them for their amazing efforts.

We are getting teasingly close to the production, Chicago, taking the stage at the Orange Civic Theatre. The students involved (cast, crew, musicians) have been working incredibly hard to produce what is set to be a phenomenal production.
Chicago is a dazzling and satirical look at fame, justice, and the media machine. Set in the jazz age of the roaring 20s, Chicago: Teen Edition tells the story of Velma Kelly and Roxie Hart, two women searching for stardom while also being tried for murder. Both of them land in the Cook County Jail and plot their comeback to the spotlight and release from prison. A story full of greed, scandal, betrayal, and a dash of razzle dazzle! In the end they ultimately join forces in search of the “American Dream”: fame, fortune, and acquittal. With catchy music and timeless lyrics by Fred Ebb and John Kander, and a funny, intelligent, and utterly engaging book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, Chicago is a musical spectacular that is as addictive as gossip rags and as unforgettable as any trial of the century.
Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased through the Orange Civic Theatre Box Office and Ticketek, or by scanning the QR code on the poster. It is set to be a truly fabulous show full of funny lines, catchy songs, impressive choreography and iconic characters and story.
