SPORT REPORT

Mr Matt Campbell

We have an exciting week of sports updates and achievements to share with you.

First and foremost, let's wish Hugh M, Oscar F, Austin W, and Harry S the best of luck as they head off to the NSWCIS Rugby trials.

In other exciting news, it looks like we will have enough enthusiastic players to field teams once again at the Todd Woodbridge Tennis Cup in Term 3. It's always a wonderful event, and we are looking forward to seeing our students showcase their skills on the court.

Our Morning Athletics sessions have been going great guns! The HICES Athletics Team is in excellent shape, thanks in no small part to the dedication and expertise of Mrs Caro and Sam Bettle, who have been tirelessly working with our athletes every Monday and Wednesday morning. We can’t wait to see the results of everyone’s hard work in upcoming competitions.

A big round of applause goes to Mya McLachlan for her stellar performance in the Level 5 NSW CSSA Gymnastics competition last week. Mya placed 3rd on the bars, 4th on the beam, 3rd on the floor, and an impressive 3rd overall. Additionally, congratulations to Matilda Tink from the Senior School for placing 3rd in the vault in the Level 6 competition. Both of these young gymnasts have shown incredible talent and dedication.

Finally, I’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you and congratulations to all our winter sports teams. The commitment shown across all our sports has been exceptional, and it's wonderful to see such significant improvement across the board. Your hard work and perseverance are commendable.

Keep up the great work, and let’s continue to support and celebrate our wonderful Junior School athletes!

Ms Belle Hazelton

The past few weeks have been exhilarating for the hockey teams at the Junior School, with intense matches, remarkable teamwork, and outstanding individual performances. Our teams—Brumbies, Warriors, and Lightening—have shown exceptional skill and sportsmanship, making the school proud with their dedication and enthusiasm for the game.

Team Highlights:

Brumbies

The Brumbies have had a strong run, showcasing their offensive skills and strategic gameplay. Their defense has been solid, preventing many scoring attempts from their opponents.

Special mention: Jarvis Byrne - His strong tackles and quick interceptions have been critical in maintaining the team's defensive integrity.

Warriors

The Warriors have demonstrated resilience and determination, fighting hard in every match. Their ability to adapt and strategize on the go has led to some thrilling plays, and a few wins!

Special mention: Harry Sullivan has shone brightly as a forward, with his remarkable speed and accuracy in front of the goal. His knack for finding the back of the net has made him one of the top scorers in the league.

Lightning

The Lightning team has been electrifying, living up to their name with fast-paced play and sharp attacks. Their agility and quick passes have often left their competitors struggling to keep up. The Lightning's commitment to training and improving their skills is evident in their performance on the field.

Special mention: Kaylee Let has been a standout player, consistently delivering top-notch performances. Her ability to control the game from the midfield has been crucial for her team.
