Physical Education

Last week at Weeden Heights, the grade 5/6s participated in a basketball competition called Hoop Time.

We sent 7 teams of grade 5/6 students, who demonstrated their skills and had fun competing against other students from schools in the Highbury District.

Each team showed great sportsmanship and school pride.

The Weeden Heights Wanders got into finals! Unfortunately, they didn't make it through to division. Well done on your efforts and it is still such a great achievement to come second.

I am proud of each student who play and very impressed with the effort shown by everyone.

I want to thank the parents and teachers who coached and scored for the teams. Your help was really appreciated.

Go Weeden!

STEAM

5/6A worked with Marie from Bunnings Vermont South to plant some beans and flowers. This inspired Stanford, Ethan and Jack to create a wonderful succulent garden.

French

  • Prep/1: We are starting a new topic in Prep/1: grocery food. Here are some of the words that the students will memorise over the next few weeks, through a range of online games and class activities:

  • Grade 2
Last week, the students practised asking the question: "Comment vas-tu à l'école?" (How do you go to school?), both orally and in written. They answered "Je vais à l'école en...", (I go to school by...'), using a variety of transportation words that they have memorised. Thank you to Erica and Tom for being brave enough to say it in front of the camera. Good on you!

  • Grade 5/6 : This week, each student was given a 'French Passport'. Together, we will fill in some French words and expressions that they have learnt over the years. At the end of the year, they will take their passport home, as a little souvenir of their French class at Weeden Heights.
  • While Grades 3/4 are busy learning their French songs, the Grade 5/6 boys have practised hard and presented their song at assembly on Monday. They did an excellent work. Here is their performance of 'Papaoutai' by Stromae. Congratulations to all of you for such a great effort learning and singing this difficult song!
