The Preps had a wonderful session learning about emotions, kindness, and how to be top-tier friends! Their biggest highlight? Meeting the one and only Harold the Giraffe, who stole the show with his charming neck and impressive life skills. (Who knew a giraffe could be such a pro at feelings?)
In class, our Preps became kindness champions—learning not just how to be nice to their classmates, but how to spread good vibes all over the playground. They discovered the difference between tiny feelings (such as not liking to eat vegetables at lunch) and big feelings. The Preps also tuned in to their own bodies to see what these feelings felt like—whether it was butterflies in the stomach or that weird feeling when you’re both excited and nervous at the same time.
Role-playing was a hit! They acted out scenarios like helping their friends who were sad, hurt, or maybe just in need of a good old-fashioned high-five. They even brainstormed what to say to cheer someone up.
But that’s not all, the Preps also learned calming strategies for when things get a little too emotional. Think deep breathing or counting to ten. They also had time to make a fidget toy that they can use when they feel overwhelmed, stressed, sad or worried.
The grand finale? Harold’s Challenge! Red (a space traveller with some serious feelings) needed help identifying his emotions while he zoomed through Outer Space. The Preps totally nailed it—spotting every emotion Red felt, from scared to excited. And of course, every single one of them passed with flying colours!
Please watch a short video about what a couple of the Preps learned from this Life Ed session. (You may want to turn up the volume so you can hear them more clearly.)
